"REAL MODERATORS should either moderate this or LOCK THIS UP."

If this gets locked up then intelligence would suffer a death blow.

we should not allow the US to go down. kung hindi it's every man for himself again, or every country for herself just like before WWII. may oil ako, may rich mineral deposits ka, agawan tayo. yan ang old world na dapat wag na natin balikan.

Chavez is just too selfish to think that only his people own that oil. that goes the same way with other troublemakers in some middle east countries.

the world's resources are for every inhabitant of the world. it shouldn't be hoarded nor shouldn't be given for free . basta balance lang dapat ang distribution. ika nga at affordable levels to make the world run

if the US can't stop him, nature will ...

mahirap nga yan ganyan, gusto magkarun ng absolute power bec. it so happens that his country is rich in oil.

nature knows pag sobra ka na and you have too much of everything. that's why charity is widely accepted practice in the business world.

GasJunkie: Gold is a good idea too. Im just not sure if it'll go the way of the diamonds.

Diamonds used to be expensive and classy but when scientists knew the way to create diamonds from raw Carbon, it's prices and face value went down.

Sometimes, it makes me think that the Alchemists must indeed have some sort of secret formula to turn any metal to Gold during the medieval times. Who knows?

since this is pure OT na...

instead of gold or diamond, I'll pick land... lots and lots of land that my money can buy.

or perhaps water... pure clean water would have more value than oil (in fact price of clean potable water have better prices than fuel).

Uhhhmmmm.... documented by who? By his organization, the 700 Club? Reminds me of all the "documented miracles" performed by all the great televangelists of the 80's who were discredited in money and *** scandals. Pat Robertson seems to be the last of these ultra-powerful dinosaurs. He's had a few scandals himself, but his staying power is incredible.

C'mon... I used to watch daytime televangelists, too... what a bunch of wolves... and Robertson was the biggest of them all...

    ----

*oldblue: read up, too... may mga misconceptions ka rin regarding what Chavez is doing.

Chavez actually helped the US during the last oil crisis. But then, this guy's just too unpredictable.

    -----

Destroying the dollar may seem like a good idea to lessen US influence on the global economy, but it's not good for those nations who've pegged their currency against the dollar. A stable dollar is good for trade.

    ------

RE: closing the thread: *wildthing: as long as we're just arguing here instead of flaming, it's okay.... so, please, don't flame. ;) I don't see any "real moderators" making personal attacks in here... just disagreeing with your arguments. Let's keep it at that.

i didn't tell that you can't gain knowledge from reading...I am telling that reading is not enough... please re-read my post.

I was wondering how come ang iiinit ng ulo ng mga tao sa thread na ito? You started a thread on an opinion on venezuela, I just voiced my opinion along with my justification, then things heat up.... (Off Topics started coming up and nobody is controlling the discussion).... aren't you a moderator?!?
Mainit ang ulo ng mga tao? Or is it just you?

From my point of view, that's already bordering on flame baiting. That is what I am trying to clarify and that is what my last post was for.

Now that is just below the belt. People here are just discussing their opinions on this matter. Nevertheless, I don't take this against you.

If you don't agree with how I moderate these threads - that's fine with me but that is the way things currently work here. I don't consider my post a personal attack but rather as a moderator's suggestion.

 Nope, couldn't care much about LUE. I used to camp the GameFAQs Asia boards, where every other post seemed to be "when is there going to be a GameFAQs Philippines board?" (I'm not one of those threadstarters heheh). Anyway, OT na.

Some more juicy quotes from Hugo Chavez. To note, Mindoro is larger than the entire nation of Gambia.

Venezuela's Chavez cements ties with Gambia, says U.S. losing ground
    The Associated Press
    Published: May 7, 2007

CARACAS, Venezuela: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Monday said the U.S. is losing ground internationally as his government cemented ties with African ally Gambia by signing a series of cooperation accords.

"Little by little, the U.S. empire has been losing positions," Chavez said at a signing ceremony. "The governments that are most committed to the empire are weakening more every day. It isn't good business to be an ally of the United States."

Under the accords, Venezuela pledged cooperation in areas from health care to energy with the tiny West African country.

Chavez, whose government is boosted by booming oil revenues, has sought to build closer ties with many African countries, just as he has distanced himself from the United States.

"We want to create a bridge that's going to liberate the South," Gambian President Yahya Jammeh said at the signing ceremony after closed-door talks with Chavez.
