The US still is the biggest market in the world..... They are still the most influential economy. The world cannot afford their economy to just melt down....
There is a shift in the policy of the US Federal Reserves when Chairman Bernanke took over Greenspan. Rather than being US-centric,- it is leaning towards being world-centric. So, the dollar was not as protected as before...
Right now, because their dollar is weak,- it's creating jobs over there....
It is also making overseas operations for US multinational companies, less attractive........
4909:coffee:
The weak dollar wasnt planned or intended by the US.
The weak dollar is a result of the Bush admin's huge spending.
They had to finance the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and a whole lot of other stuff...
And Bush also cut taxes...
So where does the US get its spending money?
From big dollar earners like China and oil producers.
The US sells them T bills.
The US simply flooded the world with dollars by printing more and more dollars.
Naturally the USD had to lose value.
Now lalo bababa ang value ng dollar coz the Fed is making more money available for banks to borrow coz of the credit freeze.

This surely won't help http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stori...317680/1/.html
ya that's as bearish as anyone can get.
there are other analysts who say the same thing.
Some even say the recession is already in progress.
But the bulls will only go as far as saying that there will be a slowdown in 1st half of 2008...
That the US economy will stop short of a recession and bounce back...
Nobody can really tell what will happen.
It is the world's largest economy.
Even if their economy slows down, it will still be the largest.
yes it is nice to have a strong peso so you can buy cheaper american goods!
but it will also shrink our exports that in time it will find a stable amount so that there will be a balance!
actually big exporters (like Japan and China) to the US can't afford a recession there since it means that americans will not buy their products! if ever there will be a recession i'm sure all the major players will meet to solve it as fast as they can!
think of a sari-sari store. what happens if the store's biggest suki goes bankrupt (like losing a job!)? what if everybody in the neighborhood who buys the paninda loses their job? will that do anything good to your profitability? of course not!
the economies of the countries of the world today are so interdependent that it is mutually beneficially to be working together to solve problems when they arise in any part of the world. competition with cooperation!![]()
Going back to their money, naka peg lang iyon sa trust and confidence ng mga tao.
As an ordinary joe how can you protect yourself? Diversify!

I think we are going over the top here. Every arguments have their own causes. I think the US have hidden agenda for everything she has got her country into -- that is why some quarters express dissatisfaction with them. Just a point to ponder.... the current situation in the Middle East and between the Israelites and Palestinians. Why do you think the Americans are always involved and all world affairs for that matter? Makes you think, doesn't it? The world's biggest economy does not merit you to police the world. The fact the the US is the world's biggest economy gives a clue why the US is involved so much.
Russia recently sold Nuclear fuel to IRAN. :D
But you know, working with the Russians broke all my misconceptions about them. Sa Hollywood movies kasi they're always portrayed as evil people like communists or terrorists or so. Pero in real life, sarap katrabaho na mga yun. Sobrang babait.
They're now so rich in oil money. They began testing their long range missiles recently.
I can't help but reread the Book of Revelations... the events happening now are so strikingly similar to those written to happen in that mysterious book.
.
I've seen hard times in the US. I'm no stranger to it. But, whoever said countries who import goods to the US will get hurt is absolutely right.
The US may seem to lack unity at times with so many different people and cultures along with so many differing points of view.
But, when they make up their mind to band together in times of crisis, they can do amazing things. If they decide to ditch imports and buy American only, they'll do it. If it comes to that, I for one will not hesitate to ditch my Hyundai Sonata and buy a Chevy or GMC instead.....
