What I trying to point out is that, if I were Philvocs I would cite certain recommendations and/or advisories from these other experts as well in their pronouncements so as to give better credence to what they are trying to say to the affected residents.

Sort of saying that it is not just them that is saying that people should leave these designated no-go zones because based on their collective analysis and experiences, an eruption is imminent.

Ngayon pa lang lay it on the line. Tell the affected people na sala sa init sala sa lamig naman sila. Kapag hindi sila nagbigay ng lockdown order at may namatay kapag sumabog, sisisihin sila. Kapag naman pinapatupad like now eh sisisihin pa din sila because people can't go on with their lives.

Kulang imho.

Hay naku talaga Philvocs. Anong klaseng analogy yun sinasabi nila na parang sinuntok mo daw yun pisngi mo kaya siyempre lulubog tapos mamaga then mag crack.

Is that the best explanation they can come up with?

Mag request na sila ng communication expert to get their message across clearly.

I'm predicting the next crisis that we'll be dealing is the new strain of SARS virus. Chinese new year is coming up and mag uwian mga chinese dito.

Trabahong Digong yan/trabahong tamad/trabahong bastos. Yes this is exasperating work. But you still need to show human decency and respect. It worked for Mayon and look how they fared. The Tanauan mayor already drew flak when she made people sign a waiver they will not receive aid if they went back.

You want foreigners to tell us how we deal with the crisis? We have our own experts. We are in constant contact with foreign counterparts, and yes they say the same thing as us. But like I said its professional courtesy to let the local experts say it. How would you like it if your neighbor tells you how to deal with your family? We don't give tell the Japanese, the Icelanders, the Indonesians, etc. how to deal with their earthquakes and volcanoes, so why should they do that to us.

PHIVOLCS equipment and expertise is at par with other organizations. We're not as poor or as stupid as some people think.

Its called "analogies". Its a way of explaining complex stuff by relating it to common occurrences.

Hinde ba pwede icompare sa boiling water in a pot or mantika for that matter? Pinaka simple yun suntok?

"lumubog yun pisngi, namaga sa kabila kaya nag crack sa taas" something to that effect...

just listening to the radio now. philvolcs person explaining.
our philvolcs does not lack for intelligence. the science is there.
but they have to have a very good speaker... someone who speaks and sounds with authority.
and i do not think, quoting furrin findings will help.

    the TV host.
he says they did a better job at pinatubo.
resource speaker counters, in essence, "we got lucky with pinatubo. it behaved according to the usual. taal refuses to behave as per scientific literature."

Sounds to me like tradpols using the PHIVOLCS as their whipping boy to the media to play up to their base affected by the eruption of Taal. If anyone bothers to patiently listen to Dr. Solidum's interviews on AM radio, he gives a pretty good account of what' going on with Taal in plain language. Tinagalog pa nga.

yan na ang sinasabi ko pag iinitan ang philvocs but i didn't expect it this soon

di pala weeks turn into months

affected residents see philvocs as hadlang

    hadlang sa kanilang buhay

they can't start rebuilding their lives if they can't go back to their land

if taal doesn't erupt soon mas lalo mahirapan ang gobyerno i-enforce ang danger zone

people + politicians will be increasingly convinced the massive eruption isn't gonna happen
