Ano ba meron sa mga gawang Aleman at laging pag made in Germany eh mahal pero matibay.. Mapa kotse man alam natin na pag Benz, BMW etc mahal tsaka matibay ang gawa. Kahit sa kusina pag kutsilyo o gamit pang kusina pag made in Germany matibay din daw. Ganun din sa mga tools. Pati sa gamit pang digmaan, napanood ko sa dicovery channel number 1 tank in the world yung Leopard tank nila, no 2 lang yung Abrams ng US.

You really won't appreciate it until you own a piece of it. For example, in my w123 I can tell that the parts were designed to be simple to operate and function, but were designed so complex that it would have taken many variations to come up with the simplest functioning design but one that can outlast other designs as well as be easily replaceable too.

I guess it has to do with three things: precision, quality of materials and workmanship. For things to work properly they have to be precise, made of durable materials and be built together with care and not just as a mass produced item, even if it can be one.

Just the other day I was taking a peek into the door mechanisms of my same w123, and it simple in function and yet so complex to design, to the point that installation can only be achieved the exact opposite of disassembly.

In another instance, the centrifuge we're repairing at work has a bad circuit board (which costs $1500 apiece), but the mechanicals are so exact it can only be installed one way and removed the opposite way. It's solid design presents itself well to be durable enough to be used over and over again despite being exposed to hot temperatures when the samples are spinning at 60,000RPM and the R22 refrigerant cools it down at the same time.

Basically, mahal sila kasi they're built to last. This means, they're built not just to last with original parts but also to be rebuilt, and not to be disposed of once it breaks.

    Just my own observation

For your enjoyment here is a link to some famous German inventors

You have Rudolf Diesel of the diesel engine, Nikolaus Otto of the gasoline engine, Karl Benz of the first motor car, etc.

yup, metallurgy is the secret to any nation's success in both its economy and in war.

Simple, the Germans have made as part of their national pride of putting engineering excellence in almost everything they design and manufacture.

BTW, not all german things were good. Take the WW2 Tiger tanks. They broke down very often because of overstretched engineering design.

I have worked with germans throughout my career..and almost got hired by them last year..all I can say is that..they are very precise and accurate in their work. They take pride in their accomplishments.

I have worked with almost 20 nationalities..and the best are the germans. I have seen designs by Americans, Japanese, Koreans, British...but still the best are the germans.

Amidst all of these..they are still human and can make mistakes.

1.) Sa pagkakaalam ko, for some reason, the best ang German steel metallurgy.

2.) Parang Hapon sila pag dating sa pride in their work. Di ko sasabihin work ethic, kasi sa experience namin, mahilig sila to take long breaks (eg: 1-2 month summer break). pero pag nagtrabaho, grabe, tindi sila sa attention to detail. of course, meron din sablay, pero majority ng mga ka-deal namin, ok. Talagang quality ang habol.

I've been to a German works apprentice workshop, grabe, kawawa mga apprentice, pag nagkamali, talagang binabatukan.

3.) Di po Number 1 tank ang King Tiger/Leopard. I think 4 or 5 lang dahil sa mahirap i-manufacture. Pero, individually taken, sya yung best tank of WW2. Number 1 tank sa Discovery list yung Russian T-34.

Germans do really take the words Engineering Excellence seriously, pati mga architect of some iconic structures mga german ang nababasa ko. Kaya ako sobrang hands down talaga ko sa German Engineering.
