been mulling over getting either a Topcor 58 1.4 or a Voigtlander Nokton 58 1.4.
though it's impossible to rationalize buying one when I already have a west german(braunschweig) voigtlander color-ultron 55 1.4 AR with zeiss coating.
they're so similar, it's also impossible to tell the three apart when rendering image quality. well, maybe that's a lie. topcor does render blues better. voigtlanders have slightly better contrast and blacks.
but the inner topcon fanboy in me is driving me nuts for the sake of complementing the Topcor 58mm F1.8 I already have.Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

been testing my Topcor 25mm f3.5 lens. It is one of the first retrofocus lens and it only has 7 elements. sure corner sharpness sucks but micro-contrast and saturation is addicting... bokeh is extremely creamy unlike my triplets and tessars that produce soap bubble bokeh. It is extremely challenging to use for street photography because it's impossible not to get noticed when you have a giant lens with short focal length
what's also notable is the short minimum focus distance of 15cm although I've been able to get a short as 8cm since the adapter I'm using sort of acts like a macro extension tube.

and this is where the problem comes in when used with harsh light. corner softness becomes problematic due to its nature of being retrofocus scheme and not the typical double gauss scheme.
but what the heck. I still love it!Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

these are my shots with my Carl Zeiss Sonnar 135mm f4. It is by far my favorite portrait lens. Like all of my manual lenses, it sucks at MFT charts but I don't care.
it renders the much acclaimed "Zeiss Pop" with excellent contrast and saturation

a few more shots from the topcor 25mm f3.5. Have to be careful sometimes to dial down color saturation as the lens likes colors a bit too much. and yes, it's very prone to CA and flares.

1st time to do rotary machine polishing? give a try first in 1 section like sa bubong, that even...
