Found some photos from Montreal in an old DVD+RW disc..... We were a convoy of six cars and Montreal was 3.5 hours away. It was closer to us then than NYC.

Doing spring cleaning in the backyard. I was looking for tarantulas. No luck. All I saw was one baby lizard.

One thing about airshows...... Never bring kids along, especially if they are girls. Boring stuff to them...... Not to me though.

I'm still learning a lot about what works and what doesn't when it comes to photography and video...... With the sun above and not a cloud in the sky, the LCD screens of just about anything were useless. I mean people were still snapping photos. But, they were all looking into dark screens like I was. With static images, it's not too bad. But, with video, trying to glimpse a tiny, fast-moving plane on a dark screen and then zooming in was an exercise in frustration. Three things that might've helped:
1. A real viewfinder I can look into like the one with my DSLR and old Sony MiniDV Handycam.
2. A tripod. I have one. But, I left it at home.
3. A sports zoom lens for my DSLR.
I was using the wife's Vixia. So No. 1 was sorely missed. No. 2 probably would not have helped much if I couldn't see anything on the LCD screen. I just kind of pointed the camera in the general direction of the aircraft, hoping I would catch something.I didn't have any idea of what I recorded until I got home and reviewed the videos.
Yesterday was also the day of the SD card. First, I left the 64 GB SD card (of the Vixia) on my computer at home. I didn't realize it until after I took out the Vixia and tried to record the F-22 aerobatics. I was so pissed (and feeling a little silly). I used my old DSLR to take some stills. But, no zoom, no quality shots. I took the 8 GB SD card from the DSLR and put it in the Vixia. They're both Canons. So, their SD cards should work on each other (and did) without needing to erase anything.
The second SD card incident was with a Chinese guy. We have the Singapore Air Force training/visiting all the time. So, they're a common sight. It looks they have permanent postings where they and their families can stay. One of them looked at my wife n kids, and strolled up to us like we were family. He He. He wanted me to try his SD card on my camera and my SD card on his. It turned out he had a bad SD card. Such a shame because he had a high-end Canon DSLR with a very nice zoom lens. But, no spare SD card. I didn't even realize SD cards can go bad. I have to remember that one.
Anyway, the Vixia was hard to use under a bright sun. But, when I did get some mp4 video footage (all the Thunderbirds), they were okay. I had maximum zoom with the default lens on my DSLR.

I went again to the airshow yesterday. But, I left my cameras at home and attended purely as a spectator. I can't be both a photographer and a spectator at the same time. Sometimes, I was so busy with the camera that I never really got to enjoy the show. The wife n kids went to the mall while I watched aerobatics and gorged on overpriced fast-food and soda ($4/can). It was much more fun being a spectator, talking with pilots and WW2 veterans about their planes.

I guess my kid went inside the CV-22 Osprey (Search and Rescue). Now, she wants me to make her paper airplanes.

Yeah. I know. I kinda looked nerdy outside pointing the camcorder at the moon at 0230 am.
Oh well.
I made it black and white plus added sharpening.

I had the earlier shot of the moon at 32x zoom. I next tried 57x (combined optical and digital zoom). I probably would not care for the 1140x digital zoom unless it's in broad daylight. There are some light clouds which veiled some of the details. A tripod also helped with the focus.

Oh I see! That explains why the brembo pads seem to have a different design. The original Akebono...
