Going back in memory lane......
I always found the Jaguar interesting, especially with the missiles mounted on top of the wing instead of at the bottom.
The photo was shot with one of the earliest digital cameras I've seen. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to use one yet.I didn't realize there were resolution settings. I got better at it. A few years later aboard a similar flight:

For a while there, I thought a thunderstorm was going to build as we walked home. But, it went PFFFFT as soon as we got home.

Canadian Geese and Lake Ontario from the backyard of a lakeside cottage. Oh. If you hold out high a burger on a fork, the gulls come flying in.

i keep wondering... why does the US have so many plane designs? why not stick to a few ... multipurpose designs... and lessen the logistical nightmare..?

They are going that route. In the coming years, the USAF will have the B-2, F-22, and F-35 for front-line combat aircraft. There were different designs because of the missions the different military branches require. For example, the Marines required VTOL fighter bombers. The USAF did not. That's why the Marines had the AV-8B:

The old designs were kept because they were still economical relative to designing and fielding a totally new design. Eventually, a time will come to replace them though.
The only reason I started posting the EA-6B images is because they were recently retired.

RAF Jaguars. I think taking these photos was one of my first uses for my then brand new Nikon Coolpix 995.

curious design.. as if the missiles were an afterthought..
Oh I see! That explains why the brembo pads seem to have a different design. The original Akebono...
