i was using the skyway going to alabang this morning when i was pulled over for overspeeding. a pncc police approached me at the tollgate & said i was caught by radar doing 110 at the skyway! wow! konti nga ang vehicles ako pa ang napaginitan and i did not see a sign with a speed limit. i read from 1 of the threads here that you can put the apprehension under protest. in my haste to get to where i am going i forgot to do it. however, when i got to look at the TOP, i did not even sign it. meron pa kayang chance na ma-under protest ko ito sa LTO? after me, meron pa uling isang biktima, trooper naman. why is it that its always the private cars that get the brunt of the traffic violations, real or imagined, and not the *#$* PU drivers who are the cause of all these traffic nightmares? :swear: Kaya ingat kayo fellow tsikoteers sa skyway. grabe, overspeeding at an almost empty strech of highway!

That's one stretch of road that speeding is actually being enforced since it opened...

    Skyway never was an autobahn...

the question is...overspeeding ka nga ba?

IMO

    overspeeding?

i find it irritating that they choose to enforce that and yet turn a blind eye on other more GRAVE offenses (like using the shoulder).

Were you caught along the stretch from Skyway Tollplaza to Bicutan or the stretch before that?

No offense dude but there are signs on both sides of the Skyway that state the speed limit and another that says violators will be caught and prosecuted.

As theveed mentioned Skyway was never an autobahn and the speed limit was placed and enforced for your and others safety. In the unlucky event you could fall off the Skyway and drop 20-40 feet down crushing, injuring and destorying people and property.

I doubt the driver will get off scott free. I think under the law pedestrians are always the victim in pedestrian vs vehicle cases. That's why I stop for pedestrians even if they jay walk to avoid problems. It's better to be late than be in jail.

Hehe, good one OTO... Manila Jail... A sight of its condition should be a big enough reason for anyone to stay on the law's good side...

jhonnyd, I'd hate to burst your bubble, but yes, there is a speed limit on the skyway, sa alabang pa ako nagtatrabaho meron na niyan. Also, im positive that there are signs to this effect both ways.

Protest if you must. But dont complain when you do break the law (plead ignorance na lang siguro).

    Sed lex dura lex.

    in addition...

it doesn't matter if the highway is empty or not, wala naman traffic condition na binibigay sa pag set ng speed limit.

i was caught daw by radar before the toll plaza going to alabang. its ok sana if consistent ang application of the law. you can't help feeling parang injustice yan sa iyo because others have graver offenses & get away w/ it. this is my first ticket after 20+ years of driving. anyway, the only consolation is that i was driving a company car & i can reimburse the fine. How much kaya ito? ganyan talaga buhay....:sigh:

    No offense ha.
    1) Whether somebody is watching us or not we should be conscious of what is right or wrong. Pero HE is always looking upon us.
    2) Even if others was not caught for doing wrong we should still maintain our core value.
We could never correct the system but we have the option to straighten ourselves.

You should have checked under-protest box before signing and handing back the booklet. I believe it was 1,500 for the penalty fee, yan yung naalala kong binayaran ko dati. :D

They usually point the radar after Bicutan entry, yung downslope part ng Skyway, that's definitely a speedtrap. They usually give ~5km/h from top speed limit.

Mabuti na rin yung may control ng speeds, at least to lessen if not zero the accidents. Tama din naman yung sobra bagal may cause another accidents, but vehicle tends to be more controllable at slower speeds...so safety first...I think its about time too that our highways and roads have equipments like radars and cameras....masyado na nga tayo backwards sa ganyang implementations eh.

ni hindi nga ako nakapirma sa ticket. di na bale ok na yon. i think i was checked by radar after entering sa pasay rd. downslope doon kaya mabilis ka. what is ironic is tha when i was going down that downslope my speed reached reached 120 so i was slowing down when i was gunned by the radar. siguro kailangan na magpakuha ng radar detector.
