March 14th, 2006 06:22 PM #21the type of sealant you need is "acetic cure"
this is the type that glass and window fabricators use
how ever for your purpose you need the DOW CORNING brand. why? because it dries up faster and holds stronger than your regular brand x or y sealant
cost for sealant (dowcorning brand) 100pesos
cost of caulking gun (disposable type "plastic" good for 5-10 tubes)) 75 pesos
(go to your suking aluminum and glass dealers)
its pretty straight forward to repair an aquarium
-drain it
-make sure that the area were there is leak is dry by wiping with a cloth
-use a blade or cutter to scrape off the existing sealant
(if you find it tedious you can just put your sealant on top of the existing however we are aiming for a clean look that is why i recommend scraping off the existing adhesive)
-before applying the sealant put masking tapes on areas that you dont want the sealant to adhere (sides near the leak)
-after putting sealant use you thumb or index finger run it againts the place where u applied sealant to,from top tobottom or vice versa
-in case there is excess application of sealant you dont need to remove it right away just let it dry and use a cutter or blade to remove it afterwards
Hope this helpsLast edited by Sheep; March 14th, 2006 at 06:26 PM.
