Well, even with getting old there is still a choice. You can be either like Cory Quirino... or MA.Free will has led to the pursuit of longer lifespans. 10,000 years ago, according to Nat Geo, humans were old at 30. Today, there's Dr. Belo... ehehehe.
The basis of free will IS in the Bible. The passage goes something like: "...God created man in His own image..." God's image: meaning having the capacity to decide for one's self one's life course, just like God, instead of being just a slave to instinct.
Sa bagay, mga menyek dyan, slave to instinct mga yan... :evillaugh
well sir i have this nagging thought about God. God has only capacity to do good. Do you agree?
if you agree, therefore, he is only obssessed with only good image. if God has freewill, then he has capacity to do both good and evil. which is quite disturbing, don't you think?
so I'd rather believe that God himself dont have freewill bec. he has only but one choice, that is to do good.
Think of it this way, sir:
God always chooses to do good. That's why we say God is good.
He doesn't even have to choose evil to be bad. Just 'don't care'...
That is why we trust God to always be good. Yan yung important part ng relationship diba? Trust.
Basahin mo book of Job. Very illuminating.
about the god of the bible....read isaiah 45:5-7...he also creates evil.
the god of the bible even repented many times in the bible and that means he did evil things.
Yes, its true. God created an Angel than turn out to be Satan.
Satan acknowledges that what you call a god is a GOD.
btw, the devil also knows the bible and even quoted a passage to Jesus.
For everyone's info:
5 I am the LORD, and there is no other;
apart from me there is no God.
I will strengthen you,
though you have not acknowledged me,
6 so that from the rising of the sun
to the place of its setting
men may know there is none besides me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other.
7 I form the light and create darkness,
I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the LORD, do all these things.
This must be your reference sir city. Again refer to the Book of Job. Also, I shall quote from the same Isaiah 45:
9 "Woe to him who quarrels with his Maker,
to him who is but a potsherd among the potsherds on the ground.
Does the clay say to the potter,
'What are you making?'
Does your work say,
'He has no hands'?
...
13 I will raise up Cyrus [b] in my righteousness:
I will make all his ways straight.
He will rebuild my city
and set my exiles free,
but not for a price or reward,
says the LORD Almighty."
And that is what Cyrus did, 'no? Through Nehemiah. Now think about this: Is disaster evil? Is it brought about by God?
For example: El Nino. Through science, we know we caused it. Shall this then be blamed on God?
Btw, nice to know you know your Bible, sir City.![]()
That's the nice thing about the Christian God, IMO, all faults equate and redirect to either science or "God's bigger plans for humanity" hehe. Abswelto lahat... But any triumph will be claimed in full glory by him/her/itself only. For example: El Nino. Through science, we know we caused it. Shall this then be blamed on God?
:D
But of course, that is what is meant by trust in God. If you do believe in Him, then you attribute your triumph to Him, 'no? Sa tao ang gawa, sa Diyos ang awa.
How about your failure? This you offer to Him, too, believe it or not. After all, by my personal experience, I'm not worse off for my failures. In fact, mas OK nga buhay ko ngayon e.
If you cannot trust God... if you always have to be in control... then you won't find happiness. Imagine how stressful your life can be, because, for man, there can never be too much control. Eh si sir M54 nga gusto world domination...
Btw, no triumph is claimed in full glory by God. It's always "done by x, by the grace of God." Di naman selfish si God.
Just look at above Isaiah verses, diba: Cyrus, by the grace of God?![]()
in this world, there is this thing called good vs. good or the clash of good.
for example, in the nursing cheating thread, people on the side of re-take believe they're the good guys bec. they are preserving standards and integrity. people on the side of no-retake also believe they're the good guys bec. they are being treated unfairly, hence, a victim of evil, unjust practice.
so it's safe to assume that the saying "all things good or bad are done on the best intentions", is so applicable to what God is.
but I highly doubt that God is capable of evil or can choose to do evil. He has only but the best intentions for all of us.
AAGGGHHH...di ba tapos ito?!??!? Ubos na yung popcorn, mani na lang na tira
If something good happens, linalabas nila yung Sto. Nino, pag may ng yari na di kagustuhan tinatago siya.
