sensya ka na coder...muslim yung nagsulat ng article...all muslims claim their quran was written by god not by man.

but his main point is....no religion is bad and he is not against any religion...it's the believers who are making religion bad....kasi hindi compassionate at dogmatic...sa madaling salita..intolerant.

City: I have no problem with people debating about religion.

    Islam ideology is different.

Too true. Any religion adopted by, or spread by an aggressive, expansive, warlike culture, will thrive over religions created by peaceful cultures. Greek religion was adopted by the Romans, that's why it spread during Roman times. Hinduism makes provision for a warlike gods. Islam is a very militant religion, which allowed Islamists to thrive and survive despite many attempts by Christians to remove the from the "holy lands". Judaism is likewise militant, which allowed them to conquer the "holy lands" in the first place.

All of this makes it a wonder that religions like Jainism (harm nothing...not even the smallest animal) and Buddhism have actually survived.

*theveed: India is indeed a veritable cradle of religions. And they have a curious relationship with it. I had an Indian friend who prayed at seven different churches (Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, etc.) before every exam.

It must have worked, he graduated before me.

    Damn!...what a blow to atheism!
The "fake" photos from the Apollo 11 landings are just so... fake... and nothing like the real ones. I've got 60's books of real Apollo pictures, very very very crisp and clear, and obviously not done in a studio. Also, note that in the videos, the astronauts move in slow motion kangaroo leaps, but the dirt plumes fall very quickly. That is the effect of low gravity (high dirt plumes, high jumps) and no wind resistance (quick settling of dirt). Those shots could only have been done in a vacuum chamber with low gravity... now I dare any conspiracy theorist to find a vacuum chamber at least 200 meters wide (any smaller, and the "black walls" would reflect the lights) and with low gravity... (maybe we got antigravity generators from the aliens at Roswell? :-P ) anywhere here on Earth... if we've got the technology to fake the moon, then we should be riding around in flying saucers already.

The manna is possibly natural in origin. There are theories that the plagues referred to in the story of Moses were results of a volcanic explosion. Rains of small animals can occur naturally, and the cloud of darkness and rivers of blood could be explained by clouds of volcanic ash in the air and deposits in the water (iron, I think, not so sure). Plus, there is some contention that the Red Sea of scriptures is actually the Reed Sea, a shallow, swampish body of water that could be crossed at low tide or before a tsunami resulting from the volcanic explosion/earthquake or whatever that caused the plagues.

It is true that the Jewish people fled Egypt, and maybe it was divine providence that sent these disasters to Egypt to enable their escape.

There is no disputing that sections of the Bible are based on historical events. The challenge for scholars is to make sense of these events and find the real-life people and events that these stories were based on.

Ay... yung manna? There have been reports of similar rains of organic substances... sometimes oily, from the sky... they're very rare, but could occur as a result of one natural disaster or another.

sir *M54 Powered, very true. but they used one weapon, Christianity. I consider it miraculously to convert a bunch of natives and barbarians on other parts of the world to forget their old ways and follow Christ.

Legal Apologist’s letter refers as well as the one by AB Sulaiman.

My earlier letter that one can only leave Islam with conditions applies to all faiths as well. If we live in a multi-racial and multi-religious society, we should never regard any one religion as lesser than another. The only thing that makes a religion different from another is its age.

Islam is the oldest religion in the world, founded by Adam, and it was reborn with Abraham and a second time with Muhammad. Between Abraham and Muhammad, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and Christianity emerged in this order. Then Sikhism emerged after the time of Muhammad. These are the six world religions.

The conditions imposed on one leaving a religion to join another are based on universal human values, in particular the need to regard every established religion as relevant for all times. This is religious equality.

Leaving Islam should be allowed on the grounds that there is something wrong with Muslims, not with Islam. There is nothing wrong with any religion. Things are only wrong with the believers of any religion. They may be lacking in compassion, or rigidly dogmatic in interpreting the faith.

One should, as a humanitarian believing in the One God who created us all, not say anything negative about any one faith. It is the believers of a faith that are bad, never the faith.

As for Muhammad’s perfection, it is to be honoured, just as true Muslims should honour the perfection of Jesus, the Buddha, the Sikh gurus and the Hindu devas. This is part of reverence for all religions as one family.

Likewise with the Quran’s perfection. It is an established fact that the Quran was written by God, and not by humans.

This is not to say any other religious scripture is imperfect. This statement only means that the Quran is the only book written by God, just as Jesus is the only founder of a religion who was born to a Virgin Mother.

Every faith has something unique which in no way lessens other faiths.

As for the Sahabah (companions), they should be seen in the same light as the 12 apostles of Christianity, to cite a good example. They are revered not only by Christians but also by Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus and Sikhs for their selfless sacrifice and humanity.
well, sabi ko nga sa inyo when *sith lord asked my point here ... it's the interpretation that made all of these complicated. and ulit ko lang yun joke about religion:

    The Muslims overdid it.
    The Christians reinvented it.
    The Jews missed it. hehehe

to blame an ancient book like the Bible should not be the course of action to change one's belief.

    .

that's why I got so interested with two ancient civilizations lang to find answers, the so-called exiled "chosen people of God and sons of Abraham" and the people of India. even The Christ was said to have stayed in India.

well yes, the old romans also considered the Jews as pseudo barbarians that's why a Roman legion was in place at the time of Christ.

the thing is was it just coincidental that the Romans were there when Christ appeared? what if it were another army? would they have done what the romans did or would they just brush off Christ as another false prophet and move on?

Ah... that's a philosophical paradox that has no answer. The question is, would you be questioning the divine providence of such an occurence if the Romans hadn't had administrative power over the Jews at the time?

We would possibly be talking instead about the *** life of Aphrodite...

This is one of those paradoxes where you can only philosophically muse about the event because it actually happened.

The romans were just quelling a mounting revolt po. They wouldn't give a flying f**k abt Jesus nung time na yon. What did Jesus in was his claim to be the Messiah... very dangerous to the established Jewish politico-religious hierarchy.

Tingnan po natin available forces ni Jesus... 12 apostles and about 5,000 well fed listeners pre-entry to Jerusalem. By the time nag-enter sya into Jerusalem, nagkakagulo na the whole city, courtesy of some agitations by Zealots (Judas po was a Zealot and true believer that Jesus is God, he betrayed Christ in the hopes na Christ would get on with his Messiah-ness and start zapping Romans, instead of preaching peace).

Sa Romans naman: 1 Roman legion = approx 20k men. + 3 more legions over at Caesarea Philippi (3 days march). Pero nung nagpa-choose si Pilate, they only had mga 300-500 men available in-city, naghahabol yata ng mga Zealots outside Jerusalem the rest of the legion at the time. Ergo, they better remove the cause of the gulo (innocent or otherwise) before di na ma-control ng 300 men lang. Of course, the Temple priests convinced them na si Jesus yung nanggugulo.

Christianity did not become official in the Roman Empire until Constantine decided it was a very useful political and unifying tool. In hoc signo vinces (by this sign you shall conquer). Before Constantine, Christians were either streetlamps or lion food.

Not everything in the Bible is true...
