Why are there so many "loyalist" sa schools and work nila?

Again, I'm not pointing at any one of the Tsikoteers, and there's nothing wrong with being one, I just don't get it.

School: What's the big deal if you're from a certain school? So many people are into this "WE" are better than you, even outside their school activities, even ages after they left the school... I don't get it. So many instances show ignorance due to pride that occurs with conversations that contains this subject matter...

Sa sports maiintindihan ko pa, it's a direct statistical competition and "legacy" thing. Sa academics, why? I mean, for every one successful graduate of ANY reputable school, I can bet that 5 or more are not doing anything more than a "lesser" school grad.

Sa office ganun din, it's one thing being proud of what YOU'RE DOING or contributing, but unless you're directly causing the company's success, or inyo yung company, why fight with other people about which company is better?

I just don't get it...

Again, before you think I'm saying what you're doing is "wrong" I never said that, I just don't understand why and what for...

I wish I can relate to your question. Pero Im not even proud of my school, hehehe. Isinusuka ko nga itong lecheng school na 'to. I cant wait til I graduate (June 05) at nakakahiya din pati school name.

    Re: Work

Again, I cant relate. I have never been into any argument kse kagaya mo kapatid, hindi naman sakin ang company ko, hahahaha. Whats the point? I work, they pay me...simple as that.

Anyway, I guess some people really take pride of where they work or which school they came from. Just give them the benefit of the doubt...sakyan mo na lang trip nila...hahaha.

I guess it is related to, naahhhh, it all boils down to: "EGO".

Being associated with something/someone that is successful, somehow brings a sense of pride to the person associated to it. They may not be directly involved with the organization or institution's success, but they still are in a way, no matter how small.

The individual wants to be identified with the successful organization, because in some ways, the institution's success, carries/spills over to them.

Hence, an image is created. (image = ego)

    *just my 2 cents....

Yep! It's an EGO thing. Same thing with peeps with high-end and a non-so-high-end cars. They feel that the peeps driving a "cheaper" vehicle should give way. Those who came from THOSE schools and the rest should be least prioritized. Coņo schmucks! Elitist pigs! Sounding like an aktibista or a sour loser 'coz I don't belong to them or inggit lang bah? Hehehe. :D I hope you guys understand what I really meant. Hirap i-explain eh. BTW they should also learn and live the word HUMILITY.

Parehas tayong sentiment regarding work, I work you pay me end of story.

    ==========================

the_wildthing: Di ako galit o naasar hehe, nagtataka lang, I could care less, I find it amusing lang.

    ==========================

The question for those people is "Does the school or company love you back the same way you love them? Are they proud of you the same way you are proud of them?" Ako kasi i know my school reciprocates with me. I hated my school so my school hated me more hehe. Sinipa ako bwahaha.

i'm a die-hard fanatic for my school when it comes to sports. kaso lang sa basketball lang kami magaling...regardless, i catch every televised game i can and pray we make it to the NCAA tournament.

oh, magaling din kami sa lacrosse and crew but no one watches that.

i also admit that i avidly follow the academic rankings. i think it's natural that people want to feel good about their school and the choice they made/money they spent. also, a good reputation helps you in the business world because it's their name on your resume.

finally, i have a soft spot for fellow alums because i really felt like i was part of a family when i was there.

i do admit that you could be proud of your school for all the wrong reasons though

yeah. iused to raise an eyebrow pag nakakarinig ako ng mga friends na mashadong inaassociate ang pagiging magaling ng isang tao lalo na pag galing sa alma mater nila... like this friend of mine...a die hard "isko ng bayan" then nung mag med school naging -in terms of school- "lasallista". lolz. i can just imagine her disappointment siguro...

To borrow a biblical line, "let the school who has no flaw cast the first stone".

Schools don't have a monopoly on morality and values. Even unschooled persons can become decent members of society, based on how they were molded by family, friends and their general attitude toward life.

for me I just go to that school, study, learn what I should know and then leave and pursue whatever I want to be with...

I never attached myself to any school that I've been to...for me they are just a tool, I dont need to have any sentimental feeling that I am a part of that school coz I knew that they may not even know me or recognize me unless I've done a spectacular thing like making a time machine....on that case maybe all of the schools that I attended to may say that I am their good alumnus....hehehehe

Same with work, just a professional thing, I dont take sides, dont do politics (well an officemate of mine told me that I am not a politician thats why I havent got the post my boss wants me to have...) I just do whatever I need to do and get paid for it....

isa lang masasabi ko " he who is first shall be last and last shall be first".

yeah... I've encountered so many peeps na ganito. ang hirit ko ... "Hachu! (sneeze) Sorry, I'm alergic to BS!" hehehe just joking :D

Well, what I do is I ride with them hehehe. Let them hear what they want to hear. Magsasawa rin yun... "Ows talaga? An ganda pala ng school ninyo! An galeng naman ng company nyo! Sana dun na lang ako nagtratrabaho! an swerte mo naman!" Pointless kase makipag argue. And sometimes, you earn their trust and you become friends ... o di ba? hehehe Manipulative ba?

I think people like these are trying to compensate for something ... maybe they were'nt good in their class or something, and just because they went to this school they can be called a genuis! Or they maybe financially mediocre, but since they got into XYZ school, they can be looked at as a "wealthy successful person".

Most of the time people I've met people who are rich and successful napakasimple lang nila. they never say a thing. magugulat ka nalang, CEO pala sya. kaya mahirap yun nagyayabang ka. minsan, papasok sa hotel naka-tsinelas lang pero yun pala pnp regional director! iisnubin ng desk clerk kase parang di sya makakabayad pero he does'nt know who his talking to.

tignan mo si jesus, when he came here to earth he could've descended from heaven wearing a golden robe with a big gold crown on his head sitting on a big golden chair... but he came as a son of a carpenter ...
