back in the 90s, i could overflow my gas tank with 300 bucks.
in the 90s, i settled for a 25 inch flatscreen crt, because the 28 incher weighed over 140 pounds. today, my cousin wants to give me his old 42 inch led, but i declined... "hindi kasya sa present location (where my 25 incher still reigns supreme), at baka mabuwal ng hangin.."
back in the late 80s, we would take joyrides in the lrt during lunch breaks.. sakay kami hanggang pasay rotonda and back.. all in under 1 hour.. ilan lang kami sa bagon..
back in the 70s, my daily allowance was 4 bucks. pamasahe and food. lakad pa ako nang 20 minutes, to save 5 centavos.

I used CRT monitors exclusively on my PCs until 2006.

I was pretty late in adopting LCD flatscreens because I had to wait for the CRTs to quit functioning.

Curbside Classic: The Most Reliable Car Ever Built? 1983 Toyota Starlet

According to a list of car breakdowns in Germany, the Starlet was more reliable than a Mercedes-Benz.

The very first year, in 1978, the Corolla jumped to the top of the list. But when the tiny RWD Starlet appeared in 1980, it took the top spot the first three years straight, and six firsts in the decade. At a time when the legendary W123 MB Diesel was considered the gold standard, the dirt-cheap Starlet rubbed the Germans' and Mercedes' nose in the statistical dirt year after year.
