New Job Offer

patulong naman mag decide if i should take a new job or not...

oks pa naman sa current company ko (Sun Cellular)... daming projects, oks ang mga tao at ok ang treatment naman pati mga executives nakaka usap ko... isa rin pala ako sa pioneers ng company... kaso talo sa compensation package...

yung new company naman (ABS-CBN) ok naman ang compensation package and malapit sa bahay. yung dep't na pupuntahan ko mukhang oks naman pati ang boss. medyo unsure lang ako sa overall corporate environment - mukha kasing untouchables na ang mga executives dito.

I think kung sakin stay ka muna sa sun cellular lalo na pioneer ka may tsansa ka to be on top position galingan mo lang. At saka ang future company talaga telecomunication lalo na marami kang projects ngaun marami kang matutunan madali ng lumipat lalo na kung ang experience mo involved ka sa mga malalaking projects. kaya nga ang laki ng inuubos na budget ng mga gokongwei dyan sa digitel kasi yan ang projection nila telecommunication ang magiging bread and butter nila sa future hindi na ang URC.

btw, am a IT specialist here... am the one handling SAP... production support / project mgt / business process review / etc... all in one... wala pa akong one year with this position - used to work for logistics before i got transferred to IT. ang hindi ko lang gusto is kapag nasa loob ka na - mabagal ang financial advancement. ako and yung peers ko dito masyadong malaki ang salary gap.

sa new job offer wala na yung support component - more on business process analysis, process re-engineering and project mgt.

the question is: will abs-cbn be able to give you the compensation that you want? and is your future in sun cellular blurry for your career?

if sun would be able to let your career grow, let you move up the ladder and be able to sustain your wants and needs, stay.
but if not, pakilala mo na lang ako sa mga stars. hehehhe

mas gusto mo ba yung SAP instead of getting into business process analysis, process re-engineering and project mgt??
for me, mas advantageous yung latter..although ok rin naman ang SAP..pero kung sa IT ang pag-uusapan, mas malaki ang potential mo kapag nag-dwell ka dun sa latter...yun ang background ng mga IT managers di ba??

kung ganun ang offer sayo. i think tanggapin mo na kasi akala ko sa business process ka. kung IT ka sa Sun its better na lumipat ka na sa ABS-CBN kailangan ang offer saiyo min increase of 35% paglipat mo. PM kita mazdamazda later basahin mo.

You must ask yourself, do you love what you do now? Or do you like the new job offer? Dapat piliin mo kung alin yung gusto mong gawin. Do you think that there is growth after 5 years of work?

What exactly is your Long Term goal? Do you plan to stick with the IT industry???

ABS-CBN is not an IT firm, so in the long run, medyo limited lang and maakyat mo dun. They might offer a better compensation now, pero I am not sure if you can get to your full potential there (i might be wrong, just an opinion).

If you want to be the man in the IT industry, try to get more experience from SUN. Once hinog ka na, apply ka sa mga giant IT firms like ACCENTURE (formerly Andersen Consulting) or HEADSTRONG (formerly James Martin). They will give you the global experience you need (not to mention high compensation package)....yun nga lang, you will loose your SOCIAL life in the name of career (sobra patayan trabaho dun)... Pero at least, dami ka matututunan.

Eventually, you can settle sa mga smaller firms as IT head or CIO (Chief Information Officer) ng mga local/foreign banks...

oh, btw - i'll also be handling SAP in ABS-CBN... actually mas maganda pa nga ang pagka setup dun ng SAP, kaya parang gusto ko dun at mas maraming matutuhan and it is still an IT position. dito kasi fire fighting lagi ang ginagawa ko.

growth here? mabagal masyado kasi ang increase - daming etche bureche. next step na nga from here is a managerial position.

my medium term goal actually is to get into a consultancy firm after a year or so from now. hindi kasi pwede right now at may contract between our company and the consultancy firm na dapat one year na akong naka resign before sila pwede mag hire.

as to compensation - more than 50% ang increase. the benefits are also more competitive with ABS-CBN.

plus, nasapawan nga ako ni PK dito sa kagwapuhan... hehehe!
