any recommendations for a cheap DC clamp?

btw that aneng doesn't have capacitance coz it's super cheap can't recommend it coz LCD contrast is poor. i might buy the backlit one and give this away to someone

btw2 in case anyone is wondering, the bottom left is a laser tach
I try to steer away from minimalist "pocket" DMMs with non-removable probes.

My clamp meter is an Aneng ST-209. It does both AC and DC current measurements (600A max).

Cool feature, bro. What are the ranges for the DCA?

    60A and 600A

    60A range has 0.01A resolution
    600A range has 0.1A resolution

ST194 seems to be very similar but w/ button mode select instead of mech dial. might get this one...

Good plan. Just make sure you get the ST194... the ST193 is identical in every way, except that it doesn't have DCA measurement capability.

I actually had been using an Aneng multimeter too - the Aneng M118A.

I picked this one for the size, being backlit, auto-ranging, flashlight function and of course, the price.

I haven't recommended it though as it feels quite cheap, although for my purposes it fits in really nicely.
Some may want the feeling of pride and confidence in using a more heftier, better built one.

If you work in high-tech industries such as telecoms, electronics, space, etc. you undoubtedly need proper instruments to do measurements. The video I posted earlier in this thread explains why.

But for the casual DIY'er or enthusiast who just needs a way to do go/no-go or good/bad component testing, these cheap meters are excellent for the money.

For example, if a 15uF run capacitor reads 15.23uF on one meter and 15.31uF on another, the small discrepancy doesn't matter. The capacitor is good!

10mA resolution... "Good enough" to check standby current of connected devices - Central lock, alarms, etc

uni-t better than aneng but anengs aren't bad either

that ut123 is too basic. lacks too many features

better get the M118A posted by gearhead
