Matagal ko na to gusto tanungin he he.

That's the smell of the compressed gases inside the belly of the aircraft that seep into the cargo boxes during flight. Because these gases are cold, they stay trapped inside the porous containers for a period of time long after the aircraft has landed. Kaya naaamoy mo pa rin siya once you open the boxes at home.

experiment ka ng ganito:
isang box (balikbayan or what have you), lagyan mo ng dove na sabon (kahit nakabox, and mas ok ang dove pink - or any other soap for that matter, pero try mo muna dove-pink)
put some of your clothes in there...
close the box, say, overnight...
smell mo tomorrow...
