Same here noted. Just last week my wife and I tried a different brand of window-type aircon ... LG! We can't wait for the newer Condura Jr anymore so we tried this...

We're happy so far with LG's LCD TV but I hope the gamble pays off with the aircon...

hmm... parang ang dami bad comments about kolin a/c. ive been using kolin a/c since 98. it broke down twice but it was repaired by outside a/c specialists.

first was its not cooling anymore, they discovered a leak sa freon and now ok na. this was on 2000

second was it kept on turning on and off, like what the TS described. got it fixed by an electrician that traced a busted part on the PCB board. this was in 2003.

now its running just fine. its was out of warranty when it got problems but now ok na ok na. i love the remote feature and i dont know if i should recommend it to other prospective buyers but im a happy kolin user for more than 12 years now.

Got two Kolins at home, a 1.0 and 1.5HP (both have digital controls with remote) window-type A/C's. Both are approx. 10 years old. The 1.0HP broke down once last year due to a busted capacitor (wear and tear), otherwise, nothing else major has occurred since we got both in 2000-2001.

As far as service is concerned, we were accommodated on the same day (called them up early in the morning). But due to the part being unavailable, the A/C was only fixed the next day.

Since I was not sure of its quality (as I always buy a Carrier), I even availed of the 2-yrs extension warranty. The Kolin comes with a remote and, I'd say the SM guy knows how to market the brand, so my wife and I got impressed with its "features" and bought it. (Plus it was cheaper than a Carrier). We bought it last 21 August 2009. By June, it conked out. It went on and off like there was a mysterious force toying with the remote. The repairman says it just needs cleaning, and he cleaned it. That was 4 June 2010. A month later, or last 18 July 2010, it conked out again. It went on and off. Now, they say it was a "printed circuit problem" (PCB).

I reported it to Kolin Service Center (Magallanes) by phone last 19 July (Monday). The guy who always picks up the call, Monching, says he will call me up "within the week" to send a repairman. I said that's no good because my kids were all getting uncomfortable. He said he'll call after lunch that day. He didn't. I called up the following day, Tuesday. It was Monching again. Says he will call me up "within the week". Every effing day, I call up Kolin. And they could not send a repairman that week. You know when they scheduled the repair? Seven (7) days after, or one (1) full week! Imagine that! If it coincided with the summer season, I would have wrung their necks. First, they were absolutely clueless as to when they can send a repairman. Second, as it appears it takes them 1 full week to attend to your complaint. Isn't that the height of lousiness in service?

So, junk Kolin. Spare yourself the trouble. The brand's a lemon, and their service sucks!

he just feels bad, because the aircon (remote?) did not live up to his expectations. and the repair service sucked.

personally, i prefer non-remote-able models, and electro-mechanical (not solid state) controls on the aircon. they last longer, and are easier to repair.
lastly, i prefer models that are manufactured here. i feel that parts are easier to come by, and we are helping the economy.

My Kolin I bought 15 years ago still works fine, as well as its remote. Just a minor issue of having a louder than noise due to its age.

I bought a Kolin window type aircon in Dec 2015 ang then 16 months later, the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) got busted. Kolin contacts would not say hoW much the PCB was so you have to accept whatever price the service tech billed. Any way, i had the PCB replaced in Sep 2017 and then 8 months later the Error Code "H5" showed up again which means there is problem with PCB again like the first time.
