Hey I resemble that comment. Most of the locals have Filipino blood also and the culture is the same as the Philippines because of their history. Damn I miss having a beach in my backyard.

Another reason why some Pinoys put pacific islander is because organizations here in the US usually celebrate Asian/Pacific Islander(APA) days/month together so they get confused. Heck, most pinoys here still call the Philippines PI instead of RP and the Philippines hasn't been a PI since the US granted it independence and became a republic. Actually I like what one Filam writer wrote in a column saying we should be called Aspanic=Asian+Hispanic. But the term As and panic doesn't paint a good image.

Anyway, although I prefer the Asian side of me, the thought of me being a Pacific Islander had occured before when I was much younger.

US. He was told by both Immigrations and the US Embassy that he must set foot in US soil every few years in order to keep his citizenship. Guam happens to be the closest. That's why he preferred Guam. No need to worry about his citizenship and still close enough to the Philippines.

Hehe. But don't be too harsh on them. When it comes to U.S. birth certificate forms, they have it just as bad as we do, perhaps even worse. At least, we rightfully belong to the Asian category, which is an option in the form.

Spanish-Americans (or 1st gen peninsulares) wishing to emphasize their heritage have to tick off Hispanic (Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, etc), the rationale being they speak the same language.

That is true. My wife's cousins in Reno claimed they have Paiute Indian blood because of their biological dad (RiP) along with Pinoy blood (via their mom/my wife's aunt) even though eyeballing them, they look pure caucasian. That qualified them for many state grants which helped them through college.

Well, joking aside, that is partially true especially with some Pinays, including my Mom.

My Mom never let me wear shorts outside while we were all living in Nevada. So, when we moved to the Philippines, I had the whitest legs. My female Pinay cousins and their friends would say, "Uy, ang puti ng legs! Pahipo! Ang kiiiiinis!" I'd be going, "Grrrrrr! Hey, stop touching my legs!". -me kiliti ako dun-

It didn't last though. Once I started swimming and playing soccer in HS, my complexion turned to a light brown.

I didn't have that attraction for a light complexion. My crush in HS was twice as dark as I am but taller (she was "lahing Bombay"). I always wondered why I seemed to be the only one attracted to her. That's because many Pinoys like light-complexioned women.

Nowadays. there is a real danger from melanoma (skin cancer from sun exposure). So, people should cover themselves.

Naturalized citizens can't have their citizenship taken unless it goes to an immigration court and is taken by a judge because he misrepresented himself during his application process. The reason they gave you is not valid for removal of citizenship. By law US citizens can live anywhere, the only people that US immigration has jurisdiction over are Legal Permanent Residents(green card) and non-immigrant aliens in the US. I am not a lawyer but I work with one of the agencies you mentioned and deal with those laws everyday.
