thanks sir CLAVEL3699
i think i'll try these shops. meron naman siguro sa trinoma at sa sm city.
nasa proj. 6 pa kasi 'yung pamangkin ko.
pasyalan namin siguro after the holy week na.
'yung frame lang talaga need ko. 'yung mga lens kasi eh sa mga "laboratories" ginagawa.
afaik, ni- eye check muna ng opto... make lens specifications... then bring na sa lab
for fabrication. sa quiapo marami labs. as per opto recommendations siyempre.

July 29th, 2016 11:00 AM #74Is anyone using one of those flexible titanium frames?
Can anyone recommend a good brand? i've seen them go for 5-10k online, but locally i've seen some going for a few thousand pesos. i doubt if they're of the same material/quality, so i've put off buying a pair.
i'm currently using multilayered lens, but if the frame is progressive-friendly, it would be a plus.

July 29th, 2016 11:36 AM #75i have good experience with charmant. but they are not flexible. they are just matibay.
by flexible, i think you mean those with spring-loaded temples. i have one such. non-titanium, cheap & generic, but still ok after 10 years. the truly flexible ones (pretzelize them and they spring back to normal) are the carbon fibers, which i don't see anymore.
most guys i know, like progressive lenses. i tried 'em before, and didn't like it. i am now into half-moons. they're lighter than the businessman's type (yung thick, very prominent, straight horizontal) that i had before.
and yes, progressive lenses are hideously expensive. they cost 5-10x more than the non-progressives. my eye doctor says there are ophthalmologic advantages of progressives, but... i still don't like 'em. but some vain people prefer them, because they feel younger with it (hindi halatang naka-doble-vista na sila). heh heh heh.Last edited by dr. d; July 29th, 2016 at 12:14 PM.

July 29th, 2016 11:39 AM #76well I have a supposedly titanium frame which I bought on ebay for only a few hundred pesos. Then pinalagyan ko ng progressive lens sa local shop. siguro > 5x ang cost ng lens compared sa frame
dont know if its really titanium but its light and not magnetic. Not sure what you mean by "flexible". So far its OK
since mura lang naman (+112 fee sa local post office namin no tax) pwede I figured pwede i testing pagbili bago lagyan ng lens

July 29th, 2016 12:18 PM #77i mean the type you can literally twist around like rubber, then babalik sa dating shape -- e.g. Flexon. i've seen a lot around Quiapo, but the low price made me suspicious.

July 29th, 2016 12:32 PM #78puede ring, itinapon sa barko at na-bingwit ng mga mangingisda...
you might buy two. try one, using cheaper prescription lenses first. and if it turns out ok, you can have the more expensive progressives installed in your second frame. may reserba na kayo!
btw... not all frames can have prescription lenses installed on them. some of those "pang-isputing" types are not for prescription lenses. show it to your optician, po, and see if them frames can hold prescription lenses.Last edited by dr. d; July 29th, 2016 at 12:55 PM.

July 30th, 2016 09:49 AM #79i think i got some bad pairs of eyeglass frames from Quiapo. Yung main ko, nabili yung rim, my backup pair na plastic, nagcrack and broke off after less than one month of use :p
i think i'll stick with metal this time around, kahit papano me flex. Hanap hanap na lang ng flexy titanium pag me sale

someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
