Magnitude 7.7. I remember that well, i was buying paint from a hardware store in Roosevelt Ave. There was 1st a milder one then after about 30 seconds stuff started falling off the shelves. When i got out of the store cars and jeepneys were bouncing at least a foot off the pavement and Roosevelt Ave was like a ribbon going up and down like waves of water.

According to usgs it was between 6 to 7 in metro manila. 4 is too weak to cause vehicles to be bouncing on the road.

Yup. Mas gustuhin ko na nasa regular 1, 2 or 3 story house ako pag lumindol. Tumakbo ka lang sa kalye o punta ka sa park, safe ka na. Gusto ko condo for the view, pero overall sa house pa din ako.

As long as the building was constructed based on the latest building codes it should be alright or at least stay up to allow you to evacuate. But as always, have a structural engineer inspect it first before entering again.

1. Malapit sa epicenter.
2. Depending on the soils/rocks underneath, there will either be earthquake wave amplification or attenuation.
3. Liquefaction could have occurred.

authorities say,
when an earthquake strikes, and you are atop a high-rise,
stay put during the earthquake. you may get hurt, running around while the structure is shaking.
exit afterward, once the earthquake has subsided. practice common sense during your exit.

and if i may add some ghoulish humor,
if the high-rise collapses, those caught in the upper floors will more likely get found first, and those near the ground will more likely get found, last.
