April 25th, 2018 07:30 PM #482Top University have the highest tuition fee except for U.P. and these University can get very good teachers. Hence they can produce better graduates and companies knows these.

April 25th, 2018 07:52 PM #483Sa Philippine settings it matters a lot. Few reasons are opportunities VS competitions at minsan ay “fraternity”. Pwede then, superior mentality ng mga policy maker ng gobyerno na produkto ng “top and reputable” university which tends to affect the eduction policy para sa karamihan kaya madami din “mediocre” na institusyon.
Case in point: AKO. passed my engineering board exam on 2002 but graduated in “not so reputable” university as alleged.
Not hired as an engineer but for reason of survival I accepted a job as material validator in a Semicon Company with minimum wage salary.
Decided to apply outside PH dahil below poverty line na statistics ko being a minimum wage earner at swerte naman na hired ako as an Engineer and that was 2006 already.
Kahit outside PH na ako, one of the ultimate goal is to land a job with Pilipinas Shell in Madrigal, Alabang. No luck because the preference is “reputable university graduate”.
I did not give up and come 2009 I was hired naman by Brunei Shell but I resigned in less than a year because another oil major based in Europe pirated me.
For 8 years ay going strong pa din ako sa kanila but lately I realized na time to move back na siguro sa Philippines. Kaya when I got an invitation to apply for work sa ADB as an expat eh some “misfortune” naman presented itself in the table ulet. Applicants from “top and reputable” university in PH are also part of the candidates applying on the same position. Not meant to be talaga yata but guess what? I’m not hoping anymore and probably will just continue here sa current work ko and retire.
PH form of recruitment is “unpleasant” but not “immoral” especially if the boss is a product of “top and reputable” university.
I have responsibility to provide them 'yung "top and reputable" university.
