I take this, & the only side effect that I experience is the very lucid dreams that I have. It's like when I wake up, it feels more like a memory than a dream. For a few moments, I ask myself if that was real hehe.
BTT: So the son of my friend is in grade 6, & studies in Ateneo Grade School. He took the entrance test for both Ateneo High School & Pisay, he passed both of it. My friend is actually torn. He wants Pisay becasue I think only the top of the top get inside plus he doesn't have to pat tuition. He also wants Ateneo High School, well because partially he moght be biased because he also studied there & it was the best times of this life. He also has a friend whose daughter transferred to Pisay in high school. After a year she went back to her previous school. She was so stressed daw with all the work, & wasn't happy. Ofcourse this would be case to case. How about the ones here that went to Pisay, did you also come from another school before? How was the transition, did you have a hard time? Is it really more difficult there?
Pisay is tough. If you don’t have enough brain power, you can make up for it by being diligent - reading and studying smartly. Most teachers will not give things easy and you are expected to read ahead of the topics. Everyone are given their textbooks and a library is there for further reference.
I was not a model student before. I pay less attention to English or Filipino or Music or Art classes. Social Sciences are easy subjects as you only need to read books. I thrive on the Math and Science subjects. When most other high school kids only study one Science class per year, we have three (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) starting on the 2nd year. Then you take both Advance Algebra and Geometry on the 2nd year then Trigonometry and Statistics on the 3rd year. Calculus on the 4th year and you need to understand that to get you thru Physics topics on the 4th year. That’s three years of heavy sciences. No wonder a lot of Pisay grads slack off on their first year in college because studies in Pisay were harder.
Not sure about the new curriculum as high school now covers 6 years. I guess that’s another 2 more years of grueling tests, homeworks, and projects. If you can get past thru the 2nd year, I guess you can hack it out till the end.

If Pisay Main vs AHS, I’d pick Pisay Main. If other campuses, AHS nalang. Reality is hindi pa same level ang regional campuses vs Main. Plus the added stress of being uprooted from Manila.
Now on whether PSHS will be too hard for your friend’s son, it’s a case to case basis. If matalino naman talaga, then he should handle Pisay easily. If not so smart but masipag, then he will make it too. I also observed that come college, mas nagexcel yung mga masipag vs yung mga naturally matalino.
At some point the academic difficulty catches up with your stock brainpower. In Pisay it usually comes earlier, so that’s where you have to supplement your wits with good study habits.
I came from DLSZ before Pisay. I was top 3 of my batch, represented the school in Math competitions. Pagpasok ko Pisay, I was average. My first quarter grade was 1.84, I wasn’t even DL. That was my wake up call to do better. I had much better grades in the succeeding years and graduated with High Honors.
At first I also didn’t like being uprooted. I missed my friends so much, I would still have my MTG sessions in Alabang just so I could hang out with my batchmates. Eventually I made a new set of friends in Pisay and they’re among my closest friends to this day.

Hindi ako product ng Pisay Diliman branch. I could have entered Diliman but a campus opened up in Davao so nearer at home. Di naman ako nahuhuli sa mga products ng mga known Metro Manila schools when I entered UP Diliman.
Di rin ako honors student nung high school. Pasaway lang talaga ako. I didn’t really care as long as I am doing ok. I am thankful for Pisay still. I enjoy my Math and Physics classes. Best experience ko was being able to compete at the national level of Philippine Math Olympiad. We competed against the likes of Pisay Diliman, UNO, Grace Christian, UPIS, Ateneo, Cebu Science, MSU, etc. That trip to UP Diliman back in 1990 made me decide to go to UP Diliman for my college degree.

XS if he wants connections.
Pag-AdMU mo nalang uli ng college so you still get the best of both worlds. A lot of my corporate/business connections are friends from college. Friends ko from HS puro doctor so I guess that also helps too.

I studied in a UP highschool (Laguna). I was supposed to be in pisay but was contacted sometime in July na - heck I already had barkada that early in freshman highschool so stay put na lang.
A cousin studied there and puro aral lang ginawa hehehe . . . dadalaw sa amin sa Laguna (from QC sila) pero notes ang hawak...she discouraged her two younger sisters to study sa pisay (not sure naman kung pumasa hehehe pero ndi sila nag aral dun tulad ng ate nila)
In college (UP din), may ilan kaming batchmates from Pisay (ndi siguro pumasa sa Diliman)....no offence pero mejo iba dating kinda weird and mukang sawa na sa pag aaral...pero meron naman din okay like yung elem bakrada namin na nag PIsay then balik UP for college.
