cha-cha can work for us. the parliamentary system can work for this country. if only we can get rid of those crocs in congress first. they are trying to convince us that sacking the senate and reducing the powers of the judiciary will bring about the golden age of philippine development. the only change i see with the current members of the congress at the reins of a parliamentary system is the exponential increase in their personal cash coffers. hirap gumastos minsan sa pinas knowing that 12% of everything we pay for end up in the pockets of government crooks.

Pero ang nangyari, misis niya personally ang nag-aabot ng donations sa mga tao making it seem na LAHAT ng donations ay galing sa kanila (which is not true since most of it came from donations by regular folks like you and me). Kaya medyo hindi kaaya aya ang dating (parang may halong pulitika).

Kaya tumabang din ako sa pagsama sa med missions. There's always some grade A a**hole pulitiko that will show up, donate some stuff and make it seem like the whole med mission was his/her idea. Minsan magdadala pa ng banner na may pangalan niya, eh yung banner nga lang ang tanging na-idonate!

I'm more in favor of federal system than a parliament, so parng sa US, different states have different laws, they take care of themselves hinde na sila umaasa sa federal gov't, so dito different region naman, gumawa sila ng sarili nila taxes, laws etc.. para hinde na rin umasa sa national gov't.

kaya naman federal system ang US sobra laki naman kasi geographical area nila. bawat state may vast land area + natural resources na puwede bumuhay sa kanila, at least kahit basic necessities. eh dito island lang tayo eh. pancit malabon, bacolod inasal, laguna buko pie. mabubuhay pa isang probinsya dun

A President gets voted by the people via the chosen members of an electoral college that formally appoints him or her. The people gives the President the power to make decisions on his/her own including any choice of cabinet members, etc with the approval of the senate (I think). The constitution, the powers of Congress, and the Supreme Court limits the powers of the President.

Meanwhile the people vote for a number of Member of Parliament (I forgot how many) who support a political party and the leader of the party with most members then becomes the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister must enter into an agreement with the MPs of his party in order to pass a bill. He can only choose the members of his cabinet from the same party. He may or may not function as the head of State which is why in Oz, our head of state is the Queen of Great Britain and N Ireland officially speaking. She appoints a Governor General to hold office in a Commonwealth on her behalf. Among many other PM's powers, he can appoint, reshuffle or dismiss cabinet ministers, top civil servants, ambassadors, bishops and judges. He can create new peers to the House of Lords and give out honours. He has the power to determine government business and Cabinet discussions/agendas and the power to withhold information from the Houses of Parliament if deemed necessary. He can use the media via a lobby system and can terminate the life of a government and call a general election if he wills it.

In short sir, the PM wields an extensive amount of legislative and executive power and can act like a virtual medieval King compared to the constrained power of the President. Unless of course you do what Marcos did to the Philippines decades ago which is of course another story to be told. yun lang po.
