Actually, i can't believe that DLSU is ranked higher than Ateneo. I mean come on something must not be right!!! (no offense to lasalle peeps. hehe).

*M54: geez, you're right. That webometrics is stupid. Mas ok ata ang Asiaweek.
ouch sakit naman. we are better than Ateneo in that survey, kasi hindi naman kami sobrang talino. marunong kami makisalamuha (tama ba yun term) either kung mayaman o mahirap ang kasama namin sa work.

i've worked with quite a few Ateneans noon pinadala kami sa abroad for training. the problem is medyo may pagka-elitista talaga ang galing sa Ateneo. kahit na nauna batch kami ti-nrain, parang kailangan i-treat na namin kagad na bisor yun 2nd batch na ateneans hehehe.

although we are trained to be elitists ourselves (like in the terms Lasalista, atenista), the social climate in DLSU eh may variety talaga. may mayaman, may rich fil-chinese, may kuripot fil-chinese, may promdi, may mga middle-class families who would sacrifice the sun and the moon, just to get their kids a good education.

it comes with the surrounding environment too. Taft ave. is just like any other Manila University/U-belt location. unlike that area in Katipunan, na para ba Alabang of the North.

a lot of makati companies love to hire us too. kasi nga, we are properly trained with world-standard facilities pero wala yun the usual na may ere (like Ateneo) o feeling so smart (like UP). no offense pero eto naman ang feedback ng mga executives sa top 2.

heeey! no offense nga eh. hehe

Anyway, baligtad naman ang experience ko, mas elitist ang mga tga LaSalle compared to Ateneans. I also had several ex-girlfriends from both schools.

Siguro iba lang ang crowds natin. hehe

Ako more on the mixed crowd, Ok kasama mga tga Province, mas marami kasing stories and i get to know their culture. Yung ibang classmates ko naman na old-rich, ok din kasama. Cowboy ika nga. Ok din mga exchange students sa UP esp the hot russians and aussies.

AFAIK, DLSU is the only private university which attained a PAASCU level 4 accreditation in the Philippines. Admu, afaik, is still at level 3, di ko alam if they attain level 4 na. idagdag ko lang.

La Salle may not look like much on the outside. but they are the private university with the most tie-up with the industry in Computer Science and COE Field. AFAIK, DLSU bought a share of the Malayan Institute of Technology (Mapua), can someone confirm?
i think they are already changing their "image" from "lasallista" (elitista) to lasalyano. and yes, ngayon maganda na ang mix ng students. partida, kahit maliit total floor area ng lasalle lamang kami sa ibang bagay ah. j/k

You can see the PAASCU accredition on the websites of the Universities mentioned. Medyo na "stigma" o branded na pag lasalle eh mga bobo na mayaman. but ultimately it is the student not the institution who will dictate your success.

Antayin niyo din yung first Philippine entry to the Solar Car Challenge Australia from DLSU, google keyword "solar car challenge DLSU". Kaya para sa akin masasabi ko lang mejo may edge ang dlsu when it comes to the Engineering field/ComSci hindi lang masyado nagkakaroon ng exposure hehe, lagi na lang yung Business Admin/accounting ang sumisikat hehe.

hala, may accreditation accreditation na ngayon?, ah, oo for DLSU level 4 sila right?

UST- pala is the one and Only Pontifical, Royal and Catholic University here in the Philippines

we will be celebrating our 400th year in 2011, so to all my fellow thomasians, punta kayo ha, lalo na yung mga ALUMNI

One more thing, the problem with UST kase, hinde na bumabalik yung mga ALUMNI! saan saan na napapadpad, wala ng pakialam pag nakahanap na ng trabaho, hinde katulad sa ADMU and DLSU, grabe support ng Alumni, sa UST, naku what do you expect..hehehe

UST - is not affliated with PAASCU, PACUCOA po kame Level 3 po status namen sa kanila.

May kanya-kanya talagang specialty ang mga iba't ibang Universities. ang nakakainis lang di masyado nabibigyan ng importansiya yung COE/CCS sa lasalle in the eyes of the people. kasi pag sinabi mong lasalle, ano specialty diyan? UST = pinakamagaling sa medicine, ADMU = LAW and AIM (ADMU and DLSU tied up to establish the world reknown AIM), UP = magaling sa lahat. sa lasalle parang walang specialty, hehe, accounting maybe?. so i say our specialty would be Engineering/CCS..... peace!

about the alumnis, i would say sobrang die hard sila especially yung mga nag-highschool from lasalle Greenhills. You can always count on them for monetary support. they live, breath and eat "green" to the point na it becomes irritatingly funny. lalo yung mga kasabayan nina ogie alcasid. The video "i rather be green than blue" are made by College of St. Benielde students, but most of the creative team behind that are alumnis of lasalle greenhills. dun talaga ang mga tao grabe ang loyalty sa Lasalle.

i'm sorry if the thread became a "my *** is bigger than yours" thread. pero natural lang na ipagtatanggol mo school mo hehe. healthy competition is an important component para maunlad ang quality ng education as a whole dito sa atin, hehe.

Oh, Btw ADMU is also at PAASCU LEVEL IV accreditation na. Congrats to ADMU!

ang masama kasi yung mga entrance exam review centers only mention three universities, UP, ADMU and DLSU. parang nag-kakaroon tuloy ng impression sa mga highschool graduates na pag hindi ka nakapasok sa tatlong to eh parang hindi ka kabilang sa "elite". they should be only called "entrance exam review center" period.

Hehehe I can somehow relate to that as I was from ADMU. Of course di lahat ng tao ganito but my impression from fellow Ateneans is may pagka-elitista talaga. Its not totally bad but minsan nasa maling lugar yung "school pride" na yun (thanks to our professors' propaganda).

Compared Lasallistas in general (where all my HS buddies went), my Ateneo schoolmates are usually academically better. But it is interesting to note that 10 years after graduation, it seems like more of my Lasallista friends are financially much well off (if that's a good measure of "success" hehe) although pretty much all my Atenean friends have stable jobs.

Kung baga siguro mas trained sa "street smarts" mga Lasallistas compared to Ateaneans. One very obvious negative thing I observe in many Lasallistas though is that they seem to have insecurities especially towards Ateneans which I always wondered why.

I guess I'm the only one here who can say I never attended a nice college. Mapua might've been it. But, I didn't even graduate which I hope to rectify in the future........

    Such a humbling thought...... *sigh*

That's okay. To be honest *all* big/popular/top schools are overrated. The head start they give you is nice, but again, it ain't the be-all and end-all of your career.

Among other things, the drawbacks of studying/having studied in a top school is, upon making an honest (if sometimes stupid) mistake, people would go:

"Ang tanga tanga mo talaga, sa <insert school name here> ka pa naman nag-(a)aral!"
