I thought kids are "thrown out" past a certain age in the US. I suppose you're still sticking to Pinoy tradition?

If I had my way I'd tell my kids to leave once they're capable of living on their own. Not just because I want a life with just me and my wife while we're still young enough to enjoy what's left of our lives but I want them to experience real life while they're single and not just once they get married.

If it was me alone? My oldest kid would have been out the door when she turned 18. Of course, their mom spoils them. What am I gonna do? Piss her off? Nah. I don't want her to become a nag.

Interesting perspective. Most parents, even well-to-do ones, usually want the kids to stay with them until marriage. Fear of empty nesting - once they leave they probably wont come back anymore.
