i normally bring mine to the neighborhood auto parts store. they usually have someone "specializing" in locks. of course, i always stand by and eagle-eye their work. but this happens so rarely. less than three times in all our cars combined, over a span of a dozen years.
but somehow, my guess is, it's casa for you.

The actuator is defective.... Hopefully, intermittent only.

Can you do a manual unlock/lock from the inside?

You can try it as it could "revive" the actuator...

OMG I wonder how much casa will singil me for this

Malakas pa loob ko with my old Lancer and Corolla because not much computer or electronics that I could mess up. I bring my cars to the talyer personally and I watch them work on it. I take note of how they dismantle and then I do it on my own. I thought my Dad and Kuya would be proud of me when my front passenger floor became flooded, sa AC pala so I had to dismantle (carpet and all) to dry it out. My Kuya also taught me how to do simple things like changing the brake lights etc.

My Gen 10 thankfully NEVER had any sort of repair done since I bought it in 2010 so I have no idea how to tinker with it. I only bring it to the casa for PMS. Only time I brought it outside was to buy tires and battery.

i believe the actuator is part of the "power lock/unock" system.
i believe you may still lock and unlock, but manually only.
the car is still safe, but you have to manually lock the door every time.
and because the problem may be intermittent, you will have to manually check every time, to see if it locked. that includes the "auto lock" when starting and driving.

the old altis i am driving, suffered actuator failure in one of the doors, a few months ago.
i brought it to banawe, where it was fixed within 30 minutes. (i challenge any casa!). they scrounged up a surplus small electric motor from an assembly somewhere. i gave him less than a thousand for everything.
but i am not sure if we share the same part. baka kasi na-upgrade na yung new model ninyo.

but knowing toyota, "they will use a successful part over and over again in their subsequent models".

Yes. I can do it manually. Delikado lang since I use the remote to lock and unlock the car, there may be times when the passenger door remains open pala. WOW. I only found out about this issue because my Mom rode with me today.

May ganit or sabit siya, kasi when I open or close it gets stuck midway. I think they don't need to replace anything, baka tuktukin or i WD40 lang. I was so pissed na gasgas ko tuloy yung lock kasi inaangat ko with a screw driver. Buti di nabali

mine was like that for the first couple of days.
after that, it failed completely. it just twitched, but neither locked nor unlocked anymore.
you got to hand it to these mechanics. they already zeroed in on the problem, within a few minutes of simple troubleshooting.

So unbelievable. 25k KM car suffering old car problems

I don't want to go to Banawe anymore because I got traumatized when my cousin negotiated with those banawe boys that make alok at the street. Yun pala ninanakaw na yung screws sa AE101 ko. Kinuyog yung car, ang bilis ng kamay!

My Lola insisted I bring my cousin to Banawe para may kasama akong lalaki. Lalo pa ko napahamak Hindi porque lalaki automatic na maalam na sa kotse. Marami we would call "Mang Boy" slash magaling magmarunong That same cousin damaged the body of my Lancer when he tried to change the tire and he positioned the jack on the body (sa may ilalim ng door) When I think about it umiinit ulo ko. Too late when I saw what he did!

There should be a visual or audio warning (actually no flash of light nor horn) if one of the doors did not lock or unlock... So no clue to the driver that something did not function properly?

You could try calling Migs's shop Cath. They might know a workaround.

go to a shop which has its own parking area. the un-official understanding is, you park in front of their shop, you buy all your parts from them, if they have. the mechanics there are loosely allied with the shop, and are more trust-worthy than the floating mechanics who have no service parking area.
and yes, they are honest-er to repeat customers.

Tax shelters (rohq, deminimis, or undeclared income). Mas honest lang siguro mag declare ng true income ang employer ni bro ninja.
