September 26th, 2009 12:42 PM #73mga sir, what po sa tingin ninyo ang talagang magandang basehan ng price range ng well-maintained 126? price range for 300sd, 260se, 280se/sel, 300se/sel, 500se/sel, 560sel?

September 26th, 2009 12:52 PM #74A friend just sold his 300SD, it is in super pristine condition, it sold for 370k, there was also this '89 500SE which was for sale in MBCP about a year ago, also in showroom condition, the asking price was 600k and it sold very close to the asking price. I bought my 1990 260SE for 220k, but I already spent around 100k mostly due to suspension repairs and a brand new radiator, my car now is in very good running condition but the paint needs attention, I'll probably have it repainted very soon.

The nicest W126 I've seen in the color and interior combination I would like to have is this blue 420SEL

September 28th, 2009 02:25 PM #77mga sir may changes po ba sa exterior and 126 during it's mid-life facelift aside from the engine upgrades and others? para kasing mas brusko tignan yung "front fascia" sa upper models? o it's just my "not-yet-so-trained" eyes?

September 28th, 2009 09:11 PM #79The w126 received its mid life facelift in late 1985 in time for the 1986 year model, a number of changes have been made namely:
1. The 280S/SE/SEL were discontinued in favor of the 260SE for the 280S and the 300SE/SEL for the 280SE/SEL, likewise the 380SE/SEL/SEC were replaced by the 420SE/SEL/SEC and a new top model variant was added which is the 560SEL/SEC. For the US version, the 300SD was dropped in favor of the 300SDL.
2. The lower body claddings were changed from the ribbed type to the smooth type, the bumpers were also redesigned to enhance aerodynamics for the Euro versions (the US version retained the same extended bumpers)
3. The stock wheels were upsized to 15 inches from 14 inches, the hubcaps were changed to the same ones used in the w124, the magwheels were changed from Benz 1 (Bundts) to Benz 2 (Flat face)
4. The US versions also gained new headlights which included headlight wipers.
So far these are what I can recall.

October 2nd, 2009 02:16 AM #80Interesting thread. I have always admired the W126 after i drove Louie Ramos' car (now sold). There are a few in the market now - some of them are up for trade. Im thinking of trading my Honda Accord for one - not yet decided but just thinking. The gas consumption may be an issue for me with regard to the gas engines.
How would a 280SE/SEL stack up vs the 300SE/SEL? Other than the extra 6 inches of leg room on the LWB models, are there any other features in the L variant?
Thanks.
D
