hi guys,
my car has these headlights
is it a simple drop in if I wanted to replace the entire cluster with euro lights like these?
or is there some mods needed on the mounts?
in addition my car still has an R12 AC system, how troublesome is it to replace it with an R134a compatible system if I want to keep the stock climate control system in place?

This is a simple case of converting US lights to Euro lights. You'll need the 6-pin socket to wire the Euro light properly, and instructions as to which wire goes to which slot.

If you can restore the R12 system, DO IT. If not, converting to R134a will not be as cold as R12. You'll need NEW seals, new adapters for high and low, the old R12 has to be vacated, any leaks have to be fixed, etc.
Problem with R134a is it needs a bigger condenser due to the less dense nature of R134a. Therefore it also needs an R134a specific compressor so it can increase the pressures accordingly to achieve the SAME amount of cooling ability as R12.Last edited by mbeige; March 22nd, 2011 at 09:52 AM.

Laking pagsisisi ko talaga ang pagconvert ng R12 to R134a. Nothing but headaches, wasted money and a warmer A/C. +1 on staying with R12.
Any idea on how to make sure a 190E I will be looking at is still an R12? Lapit nako makaipon hehehe...

Best is to really check (sample) sa suking AC shop.

I agree with Ron. One "pay the price" -- either when you get replacements (likely not to provide satisfactory results) or get originals (you literally pay premium but sure to guarantee satisfaction)
I suggest you go for originals but do it little by little (if budget is a concern). "Enjoy" the restoration. 1st things 1st.
Incidentally, I have a fresh surplus set of Euro headlamps for 201. Does not come cheap but sure to guarantee you a smile after.
I want to be clear that I'm mainly against just putting in water (deionized, distilled, or tap -...
