I got this e-mail message from a friend and I just wanted to share it with you especially to parents. Please read on.... Thanks!
You may already know about this children’s movie coming out in December starring Nicole Kidman. It's called The Golden Compass, and while it will be a watered down version, it is based on a series of children's books about killing God (It is the anti-Narnia). Please follow this link and then pass it on. From what I understand, the hope is to get a lot of kids to see the movie - which won't seem too bad - and then get the parents to buy the books for their kids for Christmas. The quotes from the author sum it all up. I hope it totally bombs because we were all paying attention!

A film called "The Golden Compass" opens December 7. It is based on the first book of a trilogy titled His Dark Materials. The author of this children's fantasy is Philip Pullman, a noted English atheist. It is his objective to bash Christianity and promote atheism. To kids, "The Golden Compass" is a film version of the book by that name, and it is being toned down so that Catholics, as well as Protestants, are not enraged. The second book of the trilogy, The Subtle Knife, is more overt in its hatred of Christianity than the first book, and the third entry, The Amber Spyglass, is even more blatant. Because "The Golden Compass" is based on the least offensive of the three books, and because it is being further watered down for the big screen, some might wonder why parents should be wary of the film. The Catholic League wants Christians to stay away from this movie precisely because it knows that the film is bait for the books: unsuspecting parents who take their children to see the movie may be impelled to buy the three books as a Christmas present! And no parent who wants to bring their children up in the faith will want any part of these books.
In a 2003 interview, Pullman states: "My books are about killing God". THESE WILL DESTROY US:
Politics without principle;
Business without morality;
Wealth without work;
Knowledge without character;
Science without humanity;
Pleasure without conscience;
Worship without sacrifice;

Ummm... I don't think that it's anti-religious at all (and I'm a Christian btw). It seemed like some people are just acting too O.A. to this fictional book about travelling between multiverses.
Heck, if this is the case... why don't we boycott also other fantasy books/movies as well? A lot of them don't show a flicker of an Abrahamic God present (e.g. LOTR, Harry Potter).
Some of the references in the book about how the Church treated those that opposed it before is historical - so why deny it? Weren't Protestants burned at the stake for opposing the Catholic religion? Weren't free thinkers and the like burned at the stake for espousing new ideas regarding science? Weren't "witches" burned by Christians before? Didn't the Crusaders massacre the Muslim/Jew of Jerusalem when they took it?

It's the Da Vinci Code all over again.
Though this time, since it deals with kids, parang mas drastic ang nagiging response.

Note that the furor is originating from those religious zealots in the US, and not from Rome (which is the seat of the Catholic faith itself). I'd take their announcement with several grains of salt -- they've already applied the same misguided beliefs on several anime titles released on US shores, ruining them as a result.
The film's director, Chris Weitz has declared that, in contrast to the original novel's Magisterium representing a twisted Catholic Church, the movie version will be a critique of all dogmatic organizations.
Besides, the Catholic Church has already come clean about its previous atrocities, as acknowledged by the late Pope John Paul II in his apology. So there's really no point in hiding or denying anything.Last edited by Bogeyman; November 14th, 2007 at 02:32 PM.

Why don't they just take it as it is, meaning fantasy etc lang. Misunderstanding arises whenever people try to interpret what is the verbatim meaning of a book or a verse. This goes to all religions which have their own zealots who take the meaning and skew it to conform to their twisted minds.
Live and let live so to speak. . .

But don't worry mga PEASANTS , Cla Ayala at Gokongwie e welcome na welcome nila yong bawal sa SM. So punta na tayo doon on December doon ubosin natin yong pera natin sa kastiloy.
He's sort of an oddball... can't take him seriously sometimes. He offers more opinion than actual...
