April 22nd, 2011 07:17 AM #62I meant carb-feb MT models.
Yep, the 3 is a heavy car on 4-speed matic.
Even I hear complains on fuel consumption of AT 323 Familias, but owners said the MTs' FC was good.

Super Happy. The car's great to drive, handles corners well and doesn't have much body roll. About the long standing issue of fuel efficiency, I guess the 10kpl consumption is good enough given na traffic sa Manila.
Had this rare opportunity where I filled up our car ng gas as in full tank. I picked my sister up sa Trinoma from Navotas at around 10:30 pm. I went back and filled the gas up again to the brim. 46 pesos was all it needed to fill the car up completely. around 30km travel half of it without aircon (kasi malamig dahil Christmas Season). No traffic at all. That time, 48 pesos ang gas. I'm guess it did almost 20kpl. Used manual mode and cruised at around 60-80 kph. Hindi pinipilit yung kotseng umarangkada. Maintaining 1500rpm on the tach.
Unbelievably frugal. Though real world conditions nya eh 7-10kpl lang, knowing that the car could really be matipid is good enough. I don't mind having my car side-by-side any other competitor on the road kasi hindi naman huli sa design. Finally, the interior is so good to look at. :D

May 24th, 2011 06:04 PM #67By the way, Mazda 3s aren't slow. You just have to engage manual mode and wait for the revs to reach 2.5-3000 rpm. rumerekta na. Di sya advisable since sayang gas but if you want it to be fast, you have to use the manual mode and step on the gas.

Actually, it IS slow. Then again, slow is subjective. But nobody can dispute numbers. The 1.6L Mazda 3 would take around 11 seconds to get from 0-60. In other words, that Civic 1.8S would overtake you. So would that 1.5 Jazz beside you. That fat porky 2.4L Camry would also outdo you. In other words, the 1.6L suffers from improper power-to-weight ratio.
What I like (and hate) about the Mz3 is the go-kart handling. Slight tilts to the steering wheel is translated into wheel movement. And because of its poor NVH insulation (if you have the pre-facelifted Mz3), you feel you're actually going faster than what the tach says. Dati sa highway I was like "shet, 120km na ata ito", looked down and saw 95km/h

May 25th, 2011 01:21 PM #69Nonetheless it's still a great car considering it's age. Pero it really is fun to drive, it still looks good kaya ako, perfectly happy with the ride naman.

When was the last time you changed them? If it's been a while, I suggest following your mechanic's...
