I believe the old Kia Sportage 4x4 surplus uses Mazda 2.2 Turbo engine.
It could be using the R or F series.
RF Turbo is 2.0LT
R2 is is 2.2L

Dear ricmacho:
Excuse me but what do you mean exactly by 'wiring of the turbo'?
Kasi, unless its a modern Variable-Geometry (VG) model that's electronically controlled, I don't know of a diesel turbo system that needs electronic controls.
Most early-model turbo systems use a wastegate that is activated by boost pressure from the intake manifold.
When the boost pressure rises beyond a certain limit, a diaphragm overcomes spring pressure to open the wastegate - thereby limiting the turbo's boost.
Aside from this wastegate control, the only other connections are:
1) intake line from air cleaner to compressor inlet (inducer),
2) hose from compressor outlet (exducer) to intercooler or intake manifold,
3) exhaust manifold to turbine inlet (inducer),
4) pipe from turbine outlet (exducer) to exhaust system,
5) lubricating oil line,
6) cooling water line (some models only)
Some models also have a pop-off or safety valve, that opens if the turbo overboosts.
If the engine they are selling you has electronic controls to the turbo, then its probably a Variable-Geometry model. That would be the R2 model.
If so, I'm impressed!
Meron na bang pumapasok na mga makinang newer technology!
Please describe to us the engine or post a picture of it.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Dusky Lim
