Like m2 said... it makes more sense to trade in your 1.6 for a similar year 2.0.

The turbo will void your warranty.

The installation can be cheap (50k+) or expensive (200k+), as you like it, but balancing your Air/Fuel mixture will cost you. You'll need an air-fuel controller or a piggyback ECU, and dyno tuning (to ensure you get the most power without blowing up your engine) will cost you a lot of money.

A cheap install may blow up your engine. A poorly tuned expensive install may do the same thing also.

Also note that your AT may not be strong enough for high-powered applications, so you're best off holding peak power at 150-170hp.

All-in, if you want to be sure not to blow up your car? Budget 100-150k.

For that much, you could trade in your 1.6 for a secondhand 2.0 of the same year... which would give you more kit, a sunroof, better mags and skirts. Like m2 said... it's not worth ruining a brand new car that's still under warranty.

thanks mga bossing. now i will consider very seriously selling my mz3 1.6 and buy a 2.0L. talagang di ako masaya sa power ng mz3 1.6 pero talagang impress ako sa itsura ng mz3. i can't undestand bakit gumawa mazda ng ganoong engine (1.6) na very less ang power compared to other brands of the same displacement.

bakit di mo na lang tapusin ang warranty tapos palit ka na lang ng 2.3L engine with turbo? samahan mo na rin ng manual gearbox...

The Mazda 1.6 isn't really underpowered, per se... it's just too heavy for the engine.

I'm sure this was also posted in another thread... but it's still worth drooling over.

    BTW, 190 kw = 250 hp. This one's a monster.

Even if the Impreza WRX has 20 less hp, i'd still go for the AWD WRX.

US price of the 250hp Mazdaspeed 3 aka 3 MPS, is $22,800 for the basic Sport model and $24,515 for the Grand Touring model which extra features like Xenon HID headlights, LED taillights, Bose 6-disc CD player etc.

    Impreza WRX MSRP: $24,995
