i believe that the 7s gearing/tranny is programmed conservatively by the ECU

if you want the oomph and speed in acceleration, use the manual shifter. i was very happy and confident using this during tight overtaking on the road from la union to tarlac. the downside though is the high fuel consumption

feel ko lang medyo delayed ang acceleration, overtaking wise, I think I forgot already haha, once subic and once tagaytay pa lang long trips ko and I'm not very particular about that kasi and it's not sluggish naman so ok na sa akin.

Where did you read your reviews?
Did you test drive both cars already?

the reviews, I've read most all I could find in the net of the 3 compacts that I like.. and yes I've test drove all 3, though sa 7 I couldn't really see how strong the engine is kase di ko naman mahataw sa may palms country club area lang ako pinatest drive and not enough road to go into high speeds.. the forester 2.0 I got to try sa slex and the engine was really responsive, I just love the look for the 7 kaya am torn.. anyway, will visit Mazda alabang and makati to see what deals I could get..

thank you both for the help and inputs.. really helpfull ;)

nga pala, has anyone succeeded in transferring the back up camera to the small screen in the dash (where the L/100 KM is indicated) rather than dun sa GPS head unit? gusto ko sana dun mapalagay incase I go ahead and get a cx7..

I totally forgot about that back up camera haha, well my HU is a Pioneer now and no more disappearing act of the music that's why I forgot about it.

*kido - sobrang panalo talaga itong cx-7's interior for me compared to the others kaya ito napili ko :D

Regarding the use of the multi information display (MID).

What is installed in the locally available units is a monochrome MID because it is just for displaying basic/static data. The early units in the US were like this as well because back up cameras were not a feature of the CX-7.

When they updated the CX-7 in the US, they added a GPS system and a backup camera which were now common, if not standard features, on most vehicles. That's why current models now have a color MID installed.

On the local models, the monochromatic MID cannot work as a display for the backup camera because of the type of screen and it's resolution (and refresh rates, if you want to be nerdy about it).

Having said that though, there are some options available online (I will only talk about original Mazda replacement parts as I am particular about keeping my CX-7 "stock").

    1) You can order the backup camera and rearview mirror monitor kit. This is what's in Chapter 6 of your owner's manual. Basically, the camera is installed near the rear license plate, and your rearview mirror is replaced. There is a color monitor built-into but hidden inside on the left side of the rearview mirror. The monitor will only be visible when you set the vehicle to reverse (much like how a one way-mirror works).

    2) You can order the backup camera separately. And then order the color MID and GPS kit. You will not be able to upgrade the GPS system to work here but you will be able to use the MID as a display for your backup camera. It may be closer to what you want but you will be paying extra for a feature you won't be able to use.

Hope this clarifies a few things.

Thanks bro, I'm hoping the deal I get includes the GPS na..

Hey I saw a pic you posted before of your 7, yours yung stormy blue with the 235/60 R18's right? I'm also thinking of changing shoes either go with the size you got which are stock sizes of the ones sa US or 20's.. I notice na black yung tint mo sa windshield, what color did you use? from casa ba yun? I'm planning on putting super black on the drivers, medium black on the windshield, back passenger and back windows sobrang dilim ba sayo?

thank you for sharing this.. it would have been nice having the back up camera in the MID display and the GPS in the head unit but from what you posted, I guess I'll just settle with both in the HU... thanks again

OEM Lcd HU is with GPS na and with TV Tuner kaya sulit na rin.

Yes those are the free 3M tints from Casa, super black sa sides, medium sa windshield but I changed it eventually due to:
    1. Sun penetration, they used the cheapest type of 3M (FX ata) kaya ganun and the clarity of tint is different also
    2. Sobrang dilim, first time namin dark coloured car so it added to the difficulty of driving at night or at dark places.

Changed to 3M CS - Medium (lightest shade) pa rin sa windshield pero ang layo ng difference sa clarity, then medium dark nalang sa sides but I think super black will still be okay kung sanay ka na.
    And lesser sun penetration. :D

guys, am planning to change my Headlights and Fog lights to HID.. where niyo recommend to get it done?

Also, yung HU na GPS/DVD walang kuwenta yung manual, walang mga instructions to do anything kaya parang nangangapa pa ako.. wala ba talagang operating instructions na kasama? Yung binigay sakin parang nialagay lang kung what the buttons are but not necessary what they are for and how to do things
