They should take cue from Bermaz's Yojin program....which they're extending to Ssangyong, too.

I have a question for 2017 Mazda CX-5 owners. When I first got my unit (Sept 2017, AWD CX-5), I noticed that the backup sensors would beep when backing up while parking in my garage and workplace. And that this without turning on the parking sensor button below the steering wheel. For 2 years, I've been relying on these backup sensors alone for parking. I dont want to turn on the Parking sensor (dealer calls it i-Park) as it keeps beeping whenever motorbikes would get close to my car. Some 3 months ago, I noticed that I dont get the beeping sounds anymore when backing up, and this time I had to turn on the -Park to assist me during parking. I went to the Mazda service center today to have this fixed but I was told that my sensors are working fine. They told me that it would only beep while backing up if the i-Park is turned on. I explained to them that for 2 years, I can hear the beeps when backing up even without the i-Park turned on. So my question is is it true that you have to enable i-Park to get the beeping signals when backing up? What is your experience with your 2017 CX-5?

Funny since I was told by the SA that another customer came in yesterday with the same complaint as mine. They just told the owner to have the i-Park enabled when parking

What's this I-Park you're talking about? I have a 2018 CX-5 AWD. I don't know what that is, there's no button I know of. Maybe I'm just be oblivious to it.

It's the button below the i-stop button (below and to the left of the steering wheel). Sorry I dont know if that is the correct term for that feature but the dealer keeps referring to it as i-park

Yeah, sorry. I don't know what that is. I may have it as well, but never use it. I only touch the i-Stop everytime i drive off.

Anyway, for me, the rear sensors always work. Whether its backing up/out, rear cross traffic alert, or just pedestrians or motorcycle riders get too close. Maybe you need to check your settings from the entertainment menu/setup

Mine always work as long as the Park sensor is ON. I've gone thru the infotainment settings and I see nothing there that would enable/disable the backup sensors.

I just want to confirm what the SA told me, that backup sensors will only emit the beep if the Park sensor is turned on. Im almost sure that in my 2+ years of owning the CX-5, I never turn on that Park sensor button and still get that audible beep when backing up. Until 3 months ago.
