I installed a regular Amaron battery after getting fed up with the 2yr lifespan of the EFB even without using istop. Warning lights gone after an hour drive, tested istop once just to check if it's working, lasts 2 minutes in traffic like the stock EFB. After that, I just turn it off every drive.

A lot of CX-5 club members are using non-EFB Amaron for a few years now, no reported issues so far.

But I reckon such issue can happen only when using istop. For those who are not activating it, perhaps an ordinary battery would do?

Since my car is still under warranty, I replaced my M3's battery with Yusana EFB. Perhaps I'll try an ordinary motolite battery after my car's warranty expires.
Pati battery kasama sa warranty? Got my cx5 on Nov 2017 and so far battery is still ok *KNOCK ON WOOD*

I think (not sure) that regular batteries will have a shorter life span compared to an istop battery.

Though Lakwatsero said that he and other CX5 club members use the regular Amaron battery.

*Lakwatsero: is your regular Amaron battery 1 or 2sm?

*Archer: Damn, if I see those warning signs on the monitor, I would panic hahaha

2SM fits sa Gas model pero snug fit. Kailangan iremove yung battery insulator.

For CX5 Diesel, meron na rin nakapalit to 3SM Amaron, wala naman problem sa fit.

I think the CX-5 and the "6" share the same size, 3SM. You have to take note of the positive terminal placement. I didn't know and my friend made a mistake so I have to pull and somehow "arrange" the wires to connect the battery.

The position of my forefinger should be the place for the positive terminal and because of that, I had to remove the cable below and bend the wires so as to fix the terminals.

Anyways, my friend will give me another one to replace it. I told her that it is working and is still working so I told her that she instead give me the Exide AGM once it is available.

Yes! I got it for free. I'm so fortunate to have her as my friend.

Have the batt health checked by the dealership & buy yourself a CTek CT5 Start/Stop before you head up north. That should push your worries back, sir. Happy motorin'!

Battery Management System warning will pop up when your batt needs replacing. When that lights up, i-stop will be disabled but you'll still be able start your vehicle for another few weeks. Enough time to get a new battery.

Batt failures tend to be unpredictable. Some show signs, others just die randomly, unexpectedly. Jumpstart kits are good to have in one's trunk.

From my experience, all my past and current cars, battery just died, no warning. Kaya natatakot ako for my cx5 hehe That's why I have a jump starter it the trunk, hope the one I have will be effective (jump start-powerbank)

Mine is the gas variant 2.0L, fuel consumption is around 8km/liter city driving with light to moderate traffic

I'm also planning to buy a mazda cx5 this month, is the diesel variant worth the price vs the gas?

Not worth it unless you really crave that diesel torque. At 80kph, you can hear the dual-stage turbo whirring like you're about to take off. Very addicting drive.

Downside, diesel has a DPF which requires additional maintenance, like regularly checking oil level. Exhaust smells like rotten eggs on cold starts, extra bad compared to regular crdi motors due to low compression.

The 2.5 AWD isn't a gas guzzler, you can probably do 8km/l in light traffic with a conscious foot. I'd get that if you're a city slicker. Proven reliable.

CX-5 is really close to Euro crossovers like the previous X3 or GLC. I'd say like 80%-90% of the quality for half of the price. Interior is impecabbly designed, there's real wood trim on the dashboard. Switches and knobs are all solid, NVH is also outstanding. Mazda hit a home-run with this imo. In other countries, it's being cross-shopped with the Euros already.

Well for me depends kung ano yung “worth it” na for you matters most... if really on the price of gas vs diesel lang given the situation today, mura na ang gas.... for extra power maybe yes, but 2.5 is more than enough already for it’s size... perhaps install the orange virus thing if you want more power for the gas engine...buy now! What color you prefer?

kung madalas ka sa akyatin na lugar like Baguio or mountain province, loaded to full load mas okey ang diesel. Pero kung normal use to above average, gas is fine for me.

Go 235/55/19. A bud on a budget got Nexen Nfera for sub7k sometime last year off Big A Autotech. They had Accelera for a bit higher.
