To help maintain batt health & lengthen its life, CTEK CT5 Start/Stop is a good investment for cars w/ this system. It will pay for itself.

Most premium euros (Bimmers, Mercs) come w/ Start/Stop now. Currently, an imported 100D23L Johnson Controls EFB in the local market has higher specs & lower price than the D23Q65 Motolite EFB. Both share same dimensions as the stock Q85. Let's hope start/stop batt prices drop as supply options rise.

Isn't Mazda PH removing the iStop "feature" after complaints from consumers on how expensive the battery was?

Another concern was that you could only change your battery at the casa so if your battery dies on you in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere you're shit out of luck.

Only the iStop will not function.

iStop is a very pricey, often misunderstood feature. It's more for the environment...the reduced FC, a bonus....& there will be that batt cost penalty. Mazda is inclined to keep the SRP close to current(thus, the planned removal) but retain GVC.
Re batt swaps, iStop relearning has 2 methods...thru dealerships & a step by step DIY procedure. Some reportedly have had luck....no issues from not doing any procedure after batt replacement. And, if you have a memory saver tool, you'll be spared, too. There are a number out there....here's 1....

For the DIYer, verify w/ dealership if this old method still works for the KF CX5...
    iStop relearning DIY:

    1. Warm the engine up. Turn everything electrical off that you can - radio, A/C, lights, chargers, etc. Bring it close to electrical load.

    2. Switch the ignition off.

    3. Switch ignition to on but dont start engine. Long-press the i-stop OFF switch for 3 s within 5 s after switching the ignition ON.

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Press the i-stop OFF switch. Verify that the i-stop indicator light (green) flashes and stays flashing. If it does not flash, go back to Step 3.

    6. Allow the engine to idle for 10 minutes, or until the i-stop indicator light (green) turns off. Mine didnt stop flashing so after 10 minutes or so i just went to step 7.

    7. Switch the engine off. Wait a minute or two.

    8. Start the engine. Go for a drive, and check that the i-stop system operates normally. Those with i-stop will know that you may need to drive a mile or two until it activates. Remember that i-stop will not operate when (a) for diesels...when engines are in DPF regen mode, and (b) in those other conditions stated in the manual. Also, if a new battery was fitted, it may take some time for the new battery to fully charge up before i-stop will start working. Go for a decent drive so it gets fully charged.

    9. If i-stop operates as normal, reset it was a success.

Only the CX5 will be from MY, the 2 has always been Thai, the 3 will remain nippon.

The last of the Nippons are in the showrooms now. We should expect em here by January. At best, Mazda could probably hold SRP while everyone else's shoot up. There's no question on build quality. I know 1 who has been driving a 1-off MY unit the last 3years w/ no other expression but grin.[emoji4]
