Well, the excitement of removing the plastics... still, brand new is brand new. The scent of a brand new leather and others is still there.

Now if I may ask, do you know any "scent" that smells "brand new"? I'm using Microtex and Mothers but those have different scents.

    More on this

Here's What 'New Car Smell' Actually Is | HowStuffWorks

That's why it's best to clean those interiors as soon as your new car is released from the casa.

Thank you for the reference. I didn't know those smells come from different toxic chemicals. Just now, my wife complained about having a headache. I really don't know for me, but just after reading the four articles I now felt dizzy.

Good thing I asked my son to clean the interior after two weeks. Yesterday, I also cleaned the interior. I'll keep this in mind, open all windows and let air rush through before driving. I do hope to practice this for the next six months.

I got my CX5 PRO machine grey first week of Dec but only managed to drive recently (5 weeks waiting), 450 km as of now, so far so good.

Recently had it tinted (I did not avail of the free tint since I'm planning to have a different tint brand from what the casa offer) using Non Plus Ultra, heat rejection is good even after 3 hours in the sun from 12nn to 3pm using 35 VLT.

    Doing the CTEK charging now.

I used to owned a 323 (Familia) back in '98. Then switched to Toyota (Innova) and Honda (CRV) . With the decision to get a CX5 . . . all smiles!

Just found out that my friend's Honda Odyssey has a similar feature as the iStop which is called the Idle-Stop. Same concept but why is the Odyssey's battery just the ordinary 1 sm battery?

I think Kia also has it in some of their models?

    From the Odyssey Manual:

Someone might've put the wrong batt in.[emoji4]

Yes, regular batts will work but won't last as long as EFB & AGM batts if Start/Stop is constantly activated.

I see... sorry, I'm not a techie when it comes to autos LOL

For our CX5, if we buy the iStop battery from another source, will the iStop feature break if it's not reprogrammed by Mazda? Also, is there a battery meter or something like this that will warn us that the battery is due for replacement?

A dying batt will have symptoms. Struggling starter is an early 1. Electrical gremlins can follow. Grab a CTEK CT5 Start/Stop batt conditioner to extend your batt life. You can grab an OBD scantool w/ gauges or use your Android phone coupled w/ Torque App & an ELM 327.... to tell you more than what your dash does. I prefer the Scangauge2.
You can definitely replace your iStop batt yourself w/o going to the dealership.

    Try this iStop relearning DIY:

    1. Warm the engine up. Turn everything electrical off that you can - radio, A/C, lights, chargers, etc. Bring it close to electrical load.

    2. Switch the ignition off.

    3. Switch ignition to on but dont start engine. Long-press the i-stop OFF switch for 3 s within 5 s after switching the ignition ON.

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Press the i-stop OFF switch. Verify that the i-stop indicator light (green) flashes and stays flashing. If it does not flash, go back to Step 3.

    6. Allow the engine to idle for 10 minutes, or until the i-stop indicator light (green) turns off. Mine didnt stop flashing so after 10 minutes or so i just went to step 7.

    7. Switch the engine off. Wait a minute or two.

    8. Start the engine. Go for a drive, and check that the i-stop system operates normally. Those with i-stop will know that you may need to drive a mile or two until it activates. Remember that i-stop will not operate when (a) for diesels...when engines are in DPF regen mode, and (b) in those other conditions stated in the manual. Also, if a new battery was fitted, it may take some time for the new battery to fully charge up before i-stop will start working. Go for a decent drive so it gets fully charged.

    9. If i-stop operates as normal, reset it was a success.

I do not remember replacing batteries for 5 years. That is at least, for batteries for industrial use. I hope someone can confirm if they have used the same battery for 3 years and more while using the CTEK charger. I have yet to wait for 3 years to confirm it myself.

If ever you decide to buy the CTEK charger, the link can be found somewhere here.

Thank you for the instructions. I know you've already posted this in the past, but thanks for posting it again so that I don't have to backread

FYI, to those who wants a cargo tray, I inquired at WeatherTech Phil and it costs Php6,995.00. Maghahanap na lang ako sa iba, ok lang mag-antay hehe

I just checked the CTEK Phil FB page, meron silang Battery Sense to check the health of the vehicle's battery...

Is this for all kinds of batteries?
