And it seems that they're referring to OVTph with this line:

I don't think so, they aren't talking about OVT. I have my Dyno results for the Mazda 6 SKYACTIV-D [emoji3]

I think the issue with OVT at least locally is the lack of dyno sheets. Its all street tuning which by itself is dangerous and I don't think the ECU even stores how much HP/torque one makes so how does does OVT know what kind of power you are making with the tune? and how do you know that tune is already the optimal one? Also engine outputs can vary among cars even in the same model even by a few horses. So its possible that one engine can make more power with a custom tune. But how will they know without a dyno?

I know OVT is good, I'm just skeptical with their methodology.

OVTph does tune w/ dyno, it'll just be out of owner's pocket on top of the tune. With the thousands of maps OVT has seen on the Skyactiv since late '12, the learning curve has long been established. One thing they won't do is go outside/beyond the known factory limits. They're not all about numbers. Majority of real world requests aren't even for race but balanced street where performance enhancement can go w/ better fuel economy.
We're kinda spoiled here w/ OVTph. Service is personalized. Meetups are done, dyno optional. Internationally? Logs are DIY w/ OVT's strict guide. One can do it by street or dyno. Data is sent to & back, remotely.
To clear hunches, OVTph +639174726847 can very well answer queries, sir.
Like anything, why be a guinea or go to a general practitioner when one has access to a proven specialist?

Yes I know, they give the dyno as an "option" which a majority don't take because OVT says 'drive it around for awhile and after a week we'll come back to download it again... and again" w/c is really silly. They should already include it in their price. "Butt"-dyno is unreliable and prone to placebo effects. I mean you just spent P15-20k, you HAVE to feel a difference right?

Appreciate bringing this up, good sir. You can probably ask OVT to try a tuned 2 for a fair & objective comparison w/ your stock one.
Why the drive around? The ECU has a learning period. Each car is subjected to different driving conditions, style & route traffic. The dyno doesn't exactly mimic real world drive parameters.... And not all owners are after an all out race tune. A lot go w/ a good balanced FC one which hours of dyno-running couldn't give you realistic data.
For those who'd have access to a dyno, sure, it's the faster, easier option. OVT has a lot of those results archived for their reference....But those without? They don't leave em out. Their custom tunes aren't a 1&done affair, w/ or w/o dyno. Data logs are done, reviewed closely. For every file uploaded, logs are needed for behavioural verification. The process is repeated until maps are seen to hit the desired real safe optimum.
Yes, it's tedious....silly for some....may not be for everyone....but it won't be just placebos & butts.
As with all good things, they require time, perhaps some inconvenience & a degree of patience on the side.

I have verified this at least to US and Canada community through the second forum that I joined. Somehow I missed the "discovery" as you slowly go through the process of the tune as they described it.

Yes, it seems silly but how do you do brake bedding? I don't recall using a dynamometer for it. Perhaps I just want to justify my decision about OVT.

Dyno results show that peak power is now at 3000 RPM instead of 4500 RPM which is useful for me, for a diesel engine. I am just too lazy to look for the picture and post it here.

For a cheapskate like me, I am more concerned for better fuel economy. I have 25 km/L as far as I can discipline myself to drive at 83 kph. I think I can get more if I drive for more than 2 hours straight in a highway.

Then again to save my face, I'd like to say that the improvement in fuel economy is just a bonus as I am more concerned with the performance gain. And cheapskate should be replaced with practical.

I'm off topic again!!! This is for Mazda 3 and not Mazda 6.

1st hand input is always valued here, good brother sir! Thanks![emoji106]

The common feedback from the OVTuned abroad seems to be homogeneously this...
And it's with all that DIY logging & the backNforth. All worth every penny.[emoji106]

Unfortunately, most OVT car owners are not here and I don't think there's even a technical thread about it here in this forum.

Free exhaust headers, tune, etc., just bring your car? The word "free" always tingles my ears but I have to pass the offer.

I am not inclined to do an "experiment" when I'm not in charge.

True. Most on here just want or need reliable cars for commute. Nothing wrong w/ that.
Speaking of headers, I can recall a coupla competing 'labs' early on offering their experiments. Again, in both cases, they only caused either trouble or losses instead of happiness & gains....some now use em as garage decor.[emoji14]
The Skyactivs are like enthusiasts & the technical....like you, good sir......a different breed.[emoji4]
