Nangyari na to sa mom ko twice.

Going southbound edsa, approaching cubao-aurora intersection.

So papunta siya ng aurora so dapat kakanan.

YELLOW LANE violation nanaman.

    First incident, di na-ticketan.
Second incident, di nahuli, nasigawan niya pa ang MMDA, may libreng ingat po kayo ma'am.

Never pa siya na-ticketan since 1994 na nagdrive siya. :D

nakaka-init ulo yung kwento ng original poster ah...

to the best of my knowledge suspended na yung yellow lane for buses (laki nga angal ni Claire dela Fuente eh)

second, if MMDA ang nag issue ng ticket, ang alam ko pwedeng bayaran yun sa metrobank, di dapat nila makuha license mo. and hindi pa ako nakarinig ng 1000 na fine. Check your A1 Driving manual, nandun lahat ng charges. Walang lagpas sa 500 for MMDA, except counterflow which is 2000.

ako kung obvious na hinahanapan lang ako ng snack and wala talaga akong kasalanan, i tell them in my most polite voice that i do not believe i committed a violation, and that if they wish to issue a ticket, please do so and i will CONTEST it.

marami yang contest na yan, kahit sa Makati pwede yan. it's a hassle for them kasi haharap sila sa arbitrator (ikaw din...) and mababawasan ang kotong time nila. Of course if they issue a ticket and you contest it, that will take away half your day to show up at City Hall. so it's a gamble in a way.

this is the key - YOU HAVE TO BE POLITE.

these MMDA bastards are mostly poorly-educated urban poor with an axe to grind against everyone who's better-off than them in life. kung makipag-talo ka sa kanila at sinigaw-sigawan mo, they WILL take it personally kahit na sila yung evil corrupt scum.

BUT if you are polite to them (I know, it can be hard..) and you state that you will contest the charge.. the arbitration is a hassle to them, and you being polite means that they can back off without losing their shreds of pride. They don't want to get stuck in City Hall too, and if you give them no reason to get mad, they will back off. In my experience.

it has worked well for me. there have been cases where meron talaga akong kasalanan (Makati pa ito..) pero they let me go.

I know it may stick in your craw, but politeness and patience goes a long way.

hahah..share lang ako ng experience ng friend ko...sa cubao, titiketan sya for swerving, which he believes he didn't commit.. in a sudden burst of inspiration tinanong nya yung MMDA, "Boss paki explain nga yung swerving?".. napa ngiwi daw yung officer, na parang magno nosebleed... then, holy cow!, without a word, he waved a hand and let my friend go..

hahaha.. natawa ako nung kinuwento sakin yun...

according to one topic in this forum, swerving is moving to 2 lanes or more very quickly, think Tokyo Drift city chase scene. Gosh what an arse they are

got victimized by Pasay police under the bridge before going to WTC, I blame my stupid trapo driver for that teaching me the wrong lanes
.. I was gonna wait till he gave me the ticket, but he kept on telling me 2,500 k , impounding, and seminar b.s.(pardon my french )trying to scare me which really didn't hit me but my passenger who was my driver (I have student permit) nag pa kagat ba, out of my wallet the cop got 550 bucks. I later realized its easy for my driver cos its not his money, and cos his ignorance to the traffic law.. After that it takes me long before I could sleep at night, my driver owes me that 550 bucks, so in return I educate my self and gave him a copy of fees and penalties of traffic violations from MMDA site. and I stress it to him everytime he says something stupid like we have no power against them, about the rules(not sure if my source was updated though) kulang nalang pagalitan ko siya eh mas matanda pa sakin yan.. Feeling ko sinadya niya yun cos he told me to go straight even when were in U turn lane , that's his 2nd strike to me the other one is wrong lane again in RCBC plaza going to the back of smart tower.. Sama talaga loob ko to that driver and especially to the freaking Pasay police.. Somebody outha do something about this corruption..

Sorry for venting out on you guys

So if your driver tells you to drive into a building you'll do it? You knew you were in the wrong lane but proceeded to do what he said, it's as much your fault as it is his. Don't blame of your ignorance of the traffic rules on your driver. It was your wallet and unless you had a gun to your head nobody forced you to pay the bribe, you had full knowledge that paying a bribe to a government official is against the law. If you were in the wrong then you should have taken the traffic citation and payed the fines in the proper place, instead you decided that the bribe was the better thing to do so that it will further encourage corrupt government officials to continue with their corrupt ways. It takes two to tango, there won't be corrupt government officials accepting bribes if there are no corrupt people paying the bribes.

"You knew you were in the wrong lane but proceeded to do what he said, it's as much your fault as it is his."

oh do I have to tell you the verbal agreement I had with him that he have tell me what, whn, and where
to do and go cos i don't know the place and rules in there?
And that I asked him what's next when we realized were in the u turn?

"Don't blame of your ignorance of the traffic rules on your driver."
I agree with you on this, I should be more specific on the story forgot
the 'partly' part unlike in other forums I told this story about.

"It was your wallet and unless you had a gun to your head nobody forced you to pay the bribe, you had full knowledge that paying a bribe to a government official is against the law. I agree also with you on that, I only realized this when I did my research hence my anger on this kotong topic. And now since I have done my research and enlightened my self on this, just as I said before, I know my rights and kind of know how to defend my self when this thing arises again. Therefore I share this story to point out that we must follow our own intuition and not follow what other people say if one knows that its wrong.. I was too naive to think that my driver knows what were suppose to do.
This is technically my point besides my main point that we should fight the corruption of the lazy kotong police.. as well as defend ourselves of course.

Do not get me wrong not all MMDA and Police are bad nor corrupt, I'm just talking about these exceptions. But MMDA got to do something about these broken traffic lights and lack of adequate traffic signs in our roads.

I'm guessing you either related to any of the enforcers, work in MMDA or know someone..

i've read something in this forum that says swerving is NOT a traffic violation..don't know if that's true..

anyways just a trivia for you guys from my LAWYER/Professor in my PGC[phil govt. and constitution] course, pag pinalabas kayo ng sasakyan wag kayong lalabas, dahil kailangan nila ng warrant to do that..seems insane right? but it's in the law, the constitution actually..

and when they tell you to "sir please open your glove box/trunk", don't..they need a search warrant for that..the only thing that doesn't need a search warrant is ocular inspection, hanggang tingin lang sila dapat..di ka nila pwedeng sabihan na buksan mo glove box mo..if they force you to, still don't do it without a warrant..ang nakapagtataka nga lang, bakit sa mga malls bago ka pumasok ng parking kinakatok nila trunk mo eh kumbaga required talaga buksan..hmm pinas nga naman

Malls are considered private properties. You can always refuse to open your trunk, but they also have the option to refuse your entry.

Other than that, kotong ang tawag dun. NEVER hand over your driver's license, ASK your violation first.

... as for checkpoints, talagang ocular inspection lang ang magagawa ng mga pulis, mapa-trunk, glove compartment, or any place inside the car. Unless my search warrant sila, which I doubt kasi nga random yung paninita. Hands off sila!

    KNOW YOUR RIGHTS !
