tama, gps is only a guide sa pinas kase napaka gulo nga kalsada dito, preparation is still a key... pero kung sa USA yan, GPS all the way kase napaka ayos at updated ng kalsada nila at GPS data...

back to topic: i find waze's Fuel and station price finder very useful (wag lang sa day of rollback kase di pa na uupdate ng mga wazers)

I think there's an exception to this. My friend uses Garmin GPS navi going to Grand Canyon. She was routed through a longer circuit going but coming back there was a shorter route.

Waze works better than any navi software I've tried so far. The only issues I've had is not being able to connect to the routing server (maybe too many people logged in?) and sometimes getting routed to seldom used narrow roads with a lot of obstructions like videoke singing drunks who won't give way.

Familiarity with routes is still important.

I usually tell people to check the other route choices in waze as Id rather stick to edsa and loose 5 mins than pass through small roads.

Other map apps are just good for telling where you are, not necessarily where to pass. Google maps is getting better though and Apple maps is still rubbish

+1 for this bro. Aralin muna dapat yung route. Yung Waze is parang coach mo na lang to remind you of the turns. Saka para alam mo kung alin yung main road just in case gusto ko iliko ng Waze sa mga minor routes.

Best tip I could give to anyone.

I firmly believe that the best way to solve traffic is to use Waze...

Even if I don't need it, I just keep it on. At least i can help other motorists by updating accidents and road works.

I agree. The more users , the more accurate the data. Minsan lang, nakakabobo din minsan. Parang calculator lang na kung nasanay ka eh kahit simple arithmetic, you still use it. Kaya I just use it if I'm time constrained. If not, magtatanong na lang, or u-turn or road trip ang labas.

For those instances where you want to avoid the small roads, you can try to customize Waze to ignore smaller roads... it's not quite as easy as with Garmin, though.

Personally, I use it as much as possible. Even out in the provinces, as long as there's a decent-sized population in the area, Waze's maps are up-to-date, showing road blockages and detours. It can also find destinations much better than non-networked navigators like Garmin.

And keeping it on and following its shortcuts as much as possible helps decongest crowded roads. The more of us who use waze, the less traffic there will be at the regular chokepoints.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

are you using waze on portrait or landscape mode?

sa akin portrait kasi mas kailangan naman siguro yung details ng map going forward instead of sa sides. also when using navigation, natatakpan kasi nung turn-by-turn directions yung top part ng map on landscape.

So I got fed up, stopped my car, and fired up WAZE. After telling WAZE to take me to kamay ni hesus, I texted my brother-in-law that I'll go my own way.

Since this was my first time to drive to Quezon so I knew NOTHING about the general area. I just followed waze blindly. (Kinda foolish and reckless of me since brought no maps)
An hour later, nasa bulubundukin na ako. The roads were still nice (asphalt, walang lubak) but there were hardly any cars, just the occasional cargo jeepney and truck.

Eventually, I lost Cell signal. But fortunately, WAZE had already cached the map + route. So hindi pa rin ako nag panic.
Eventually, I also lost GPS lock because it was very cloudy and maybe because the tree canopy and the mountain was blocking the GPS signals...whatever. AT this point, without Cell signals and GPS to estimate location, waze was just using its best guess to let me know where I was at the map. Buti na lang walang forks doon sa kalye so I just followed it.

I eventually cleared the mountain road and saw the boundary of a barangay. At this point, GPS lock was restored, and soon enough, Cell + Data signals went back.

Believe it or not, I arrived at Kamay Ni Hesus 1 hour before my brother-in-law! My brother-in-law told me that he took the main highway and there was heavy traffic.
Galing ng waze! hehehe... Pero I realized that it's still not a full replacement for a dedicated GPS. After that experience, nag install din ako ng GPS app that had offline maps.
Bro. - My guess is you passed through the Pagsanjan, Cavinti, Majayjay, Luisiana area... That's a nice mountain drive. Actually one of my favorites....

Waze user here too to complement my adjunct Garmin or vehicle installed GPS. Big help on traffic conditions....

I suddenly lost the voice navigation on my waze. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but it's still the same. I am not sure what happened but the last time I used waze was several months ago.

Subukan mo palitan yun voice navi option, tapos pag gumana palitan mo ng preferred mo. Either yan or naka off lang sa settings mo yun navi voice.
