Inspired!

The Manila-Pagudpud route is one of my favorite road trips. Been there at least 5 times in the past 12 years. Fastest it took me was 10 1/2 hours including a half hour stop (this was afternoon of Holy Thursday to early morning of Good Friday).

Additional tips: when your views are like the pics of Sarsi, it would be better to slow down a bit to about 80kph to enjoy the passing coastline, mountains, cropfields and churches. You can break your trip with an overnight stop in Vigan (which is your original destination), but I would highly recommend that you go all the way to Pagudpud since it's just less than 200 km further down the road.

Now, while you're at Pagudpud (and if you have the time), why not drive east and go further into Cagayan province, to Aparri (side trip) and Tuguegarao on your way back to Manila? It'll take longer, but this horseshoe trip is really one of a kind. I have only done this once, but I would do this trip anytime time allows for it. The boring part would be from Pagudpud to Tuguegarao, since much of it is crossing mountains (great views though). If you like architecture, there are a number of interesting churches along the way, dating back to the 17th-18th centuries.

I would go on about the longer trip but it's already off topic. Enjoy your Vigan trip and time your departure so that you will avoid the traffic in Tarlac and Urdaneta.

^ to give you an idea for fuel and toll fee:

    from cjasenrobles * avanzaclub.ph

    <snip>
Avanza 2012 1.3e AT - Started with Full Tank from Laguna
with Full Tank (automatic full) at every stop using Petron Xtra Unleaded

    start: 1847 on Odometer
    1st Stop: 2131mileage - consumed 21.99L *12.91km/l
2nd Stop: 2394mileage - consumed 21.07L *12.48km/l (probably due to slow down on our food stops)
    On the way back...
3rd Stop: 2682mileage - consumed 25.73L *11.64km/l (nagikot ikot na kami sa buong ilocos hanggang vigan)
4th Stop: 3070mileage - consumed 29.87L *12.98km/l (straight through from Vigan to sctex)

    Total Damage: Fuel - 5,475.63 around 1,600+ * every stop + Toll Fee (1,300+)
    </snip>

for other expenses - try mo i-check sa tripadvisor.

papunta ako pagudpod this friday, eto route na gamitin ko:

Pan-Philippine Hwy to Unknown road - Google Maps

Budget per head at least P2500.

medyo mahirap yung ruta mo boss.

Ang travel time to dulo ng rosario launion (paanan ng baguio) 3 hours pag night drive. From Launion to vigan - 4 hours night drive.

Last week ako nagdrive from laoag to manila using seaoil xtreme97 gamit jazz1.3 m/t
Ave. price of gas 50, ave fc 15kml.
Nakuha ng 10hrs kasama na mga stops for gas, lunch, bili pasalubong from roadside vendors from different provinces.

Kung may extra time and budget extend nyo trip nyo to bangui windmills.

aabutan kami ng daytime traffic during our trip.
saka medyo scenic yung magilas trail.
last april nagpunta kami ng Baguio. yung normal na route (kanan after SCTEx) medyo madaming
sasakyan kaya subukan namin alternate route.
