Rosario, La Union before yun split going up to Baguio via Kennon o Marcos Highway. More or less pagdating mo doon ay more than half na ang naubos mo, depende sa driving style.

Very informative. aakyat din kami ng family ko (wife and 2 kids) later after midnight siguro. We'll be coming from Bacoor and first time to use our '05 Ford Escape. Any tips and advices you guys want to share for a first timer? is it advisable to turn off the over drive?

    thanks!

I often drive up at night... For now, just keep good vision of the road as there are road cuts (portions between newly concreted parts and old asphalt parts in the construction areas that will jar your suspension badly if you don't slow down. These are mainly in the Pangasinan area of Mc Arthur highway. I'd suggest you do a bathroom stop on Petron Lakeshore (after NLEX San Fernando exit) then deretso SCTEX - TPLEX to Paniqui na yan.

Kennon is okay to take now.

anyone experienced TPLEX at night? As soon as I entered this expressway, para akong biglang into deep trance, parang sobra akong inantok, maybe it was the side reflectors and road lines, pero talagang di ko kinaya, i had to munch para lang magising.

has anyone passed by magilas lately?

last time i passed only part of it, exited tplex at gerona then on to ramos-guimba road then on to pangasinan-nueva ecija road all the way to the corner of petron of the carmen rosales-san jose road, where you are supposed to make a left turn going to rosales then right turn again to magilas before rosales. passable naman yung ramos-guimba road although there are some portions that are badly cracked but not jarring. yung pangasinan-nueva ecija road may road repairs pero no traffic at all as the portions are short and the road is wide. ang di ko alam yung from rosales all the way to binalonan.

I took it going from Baguio to Manila last December. Rosales to Binalonan is okay and much better than driving from Urdaneta to Binalonan with the roadworks ongoing. The bad part was from Pura to Guimba (cracked up yung road) but it was still bearable if you keep your speed in check or you have a car with big tyres. Entered TPLEX at Gerona.

TPLEX at night is okay especially with the side reflectors (and no speed limit that time i passed)... had a hard time cleaning off all the bugs from the Hiace nose though.

Yes.

I'm planning to drive solo to Baguio this weekend, then go up to Mt. Pulag by jeep (and of course, by foot). =B) My plan is to leave Mandaluyong at 3 a.m. on Friday so it will be day when I reach MacArthur and Marcos Highway. I'll be staying overnight in Baguio and will leave for Pulag at dawn the next morning. This will be my route:
    NLEX > SCTEx > TPLEx > Paniqui-Ramos Road > MacArthur Highway > Pugo-Rosario Road > Marcos Highway

    Is this correct?

I hope you can help me with some questions:
    1. What place can you suggest that's not too expensive since I'll just be spending the night and leave for the mountains at 4 a.m. on Saturday? Do I need to make a reservation from Manila?
    2. Do you know of a parking space in Baguio that's safe, and where I can leave the car on Saturday to be picked up on Sunday or Monday evening? What's the usual parking rate?
    3. I'm planning to leave Baguio for home in the evening, perhaps around 7 p.m. Will that be OK? Is Marcos Highway still the better and safer route?

Thanks a lot and looking forward to your inputs.

Pack Road andyan yung Baden Powell Inn. May dorm type room sila dati.

Check mo rin sir 1896 bed and breakfast near sikad road. Its a house converted to a b&b and has safe parking where you can leave your car.

If you want to drive some more, actually some friends told me that even a sedan can go up all the way to rangers station since roads are better now.

And since you are driving alone, i suggest if time permits stay one more night in baguio and leave in the morning since you will be coming from a major climb. Baka makatulog ka while driving pauwi. Kung di naman kaya, damihan mo na lang stop over pababa and doble ingat kasi galing sa pagod na trek tapos drive na agad pagbalik baguio.

    Ingat and enjoy!

Paragos, maraming salamat sa suggestions. Pwede mo i-PM 'yung numbers?

About Ranger Station, I drive a 4x2 ASX, so I have my doubts about going straight. >:->

I'm in Baguio now. Will climb Mt. Pulag tomorrow. I encountered several road widening projects, I think most of them are in Villasis.

One thing I noticed was nobody was taking the extra new lane, perhaps because they were expecting it to end abruptly with a road construction sign.

Will share some dash cam videos when I get back.

    P.S.
Marcos Highway was very good, it reminded me a lot of the road going to Rizal.

Hi!
Worth it kaya yung added distance?
