January 14th, 2007 04:50 PM #1Hi guys,
Would like to solicit your opinion about Kia Pregio as I'm keen on getting a 2001 model. Any inputs or comments regarding this vehicle is highly appreciated. Thanks very much!

January 14th, 2007 09:10 PM #2I remember during college (mga '98) riding a friend's Pregio along Clark Airbase' highway. We heard a loud thud all of a sudden and yun pala, nahulog yung underchassis cover na made of rubber. And that time, halos bago pa yung Pregio nya.
Dunno if quality has improved alot since then

January 14th, 2007 09:52 PM #3Our company has a AT Pregio. I forgot if its a 2001 or 2002 model. So far ok naman except for a lot of minor quirks and problems. As far as i know, we already changed the rear shock bushings, alternator, power steering and aircon belt. We also replaced the alternator pulley and had a water plug fall off resulting into overheat.
Another irritating thing about it is when it rains, the belts squeak a lot. I suspect they get wet from water spray from the wheels.
FC have not computed pero matipid naman. Roomy can sit 10 adults pero hirap na ang makina.

January 15th, 2007 07:49 PM #4Thanks guys for the replies. Would appreciate more opinions as I'm seriously considering selling my Adventure GLS Sport 2002 in exchange for this van as I need the extra space and money.

Pareho lang yata presyo ng MB100 at Pregio, mag MB100 ka na lang mas elegant pang tingnan.

I've heard bad things about older Pregios, but I've seen newer ones (a 2004) hold up well to abuse (used as a rent-a-van... does about 1000 kms a week) when maintained properly.

I have a 1990 Nissan Urvan Microbus and my uncle bought a 1996 Pregio before. Maganda sia nung bago, hanggang nakita namin kung pano lumabas mga sira ng Pregio. Nainis uncle ko then he bought a Nissan Urvan Escapade nung 2001. Urvan ko is buhay pa and ang pagkakaiba lang ng Escapade is Power Steering and Recline seats mga upuan sa likod. But suspension, pang ilalaim, preno parehas lang ng Urvan Microbus kong luma.

The first Pregio models were really afflicted with quality problems, i would expect the newer '02 and up (facelifted versions?) to be better IMO just like the way Hyundai worked on upgrading the Starex over time.
It would also boil down to whether how much you need the extra money and space; if you sell the Adventure for extra cash how long will this last? Especially if you'll have to do repairs on the Pregio?
I am happy for you. We had a very bad experience with VW Philippines. We will avoid getting from...
