Kia Pregio

Hi guys,

Would like to solicit your opinion about Kia Pregio as I'm keen on getting a 2001 model. Any inputs or comments regarding this vehicle is highly appreciated. Thanks very much!

I remember during college (mga '98) riding a friend's Pregio along Clark Airbase' highway. We heard a loud thud all of a sudden and yun pala, nahulog yung underchassis cover na made of rubber. And that time, halos bago pa yung Pregio nya.

Our company has a AT Pregio. I forgot if its a 2001 or 2002 model. So far ok naman except for a lot of minor quirks and problems. As far as i know, we already changed the rear shock bushings, alternator, power steering and aircon belt. We also replaced the alternator pulley and had a water plug fall off resulting into overheat.

Another irritating thing about it is when it rains, the belts squeak a lot. I suspect they get wet from water spray from the wheels.

FC have not computed pero matipid naman. Roomy can sit 10 adults pero hirap na ang makina.

my ex has a 96 model pregio. daming problema. they had to replace the engine na even though well maintained naman. Now the shifting is reverse. 1st gear is 2nd and reverse is 5th gear.

i sold my pregio 2000 RS 2.7l m/t local version last year for 235k. ok naman ung power nya, sarap din ride hindi matagtag,tipid din sa diesel madaling i-ipihit khit masikip ung area. napilitan akong ibenta kci nagsimula na magbigay ng sakit ng ulo like...

1. alternator-6k including installation
2. Battery-naapektuhan ng alternator forgot ung price si erpat bumili eh but
motolite cya na enduro yata na maintenance free.
3. aircon-15k full service including new compressor(sanden dual), expansion
valve, etc. ok cya for a few months but after that init nanaman.
-walang tutok ung vent sa 1st row.
4. side silding door...5k pinalitan na namin lahat ng dapat palitan but still
makalampag at maingay pa rin nagrereklamo si wife and kids ko di
makatulog sa biyahe.
5. windows both sides(except driver/passenger side)...500 petot
tumutulo pag-umuulan...2 clip lang cya both side each window kaya
pag nagvibrate dahil sa lubak madaling lumuwag at maalis ung
silicon...solution ng mechanic ko makapal na silicon additional 2 clips
sa top portion na made of thick G.I. sheet to give more support sa
window.
6. speed-100kph lang ako pwedeng mag-stay...more than that 3/4 ang
temp ko...sbi ng mechanic ko palit radiator na mas malaki.

within 3 months time lang po yang gastos ko kya ibinenta ko na sakit na ng bulsa ko.

2nd owner po ako when i bought it last aug 2005. at first po ok cya walang problema sarap gamitin super lamig A/C. last sept 2006 nagsimula na cyang nagkasakit sunod-sunod kya ibinenta ko. brand new po cya nabili ng 1st owner from KIA-san fernando and family use lang. may CASA record pa po na kasama...when i bought the unit hindi gaanong gamit kci maraming sasakyan sa garahe ng kinuha ko. wala daw gumagamit dhil may kanya-kanyang mga sasakyan silang lahat sa family at obvious namn kci CRV, civic, Fort, New Hi-Ace and altis ang nasa garahe nila.

di lang po ako naka-experience ng ganito sir may mga tropa akong may pregio din na same ang naging problema kya ibinenta din nila.

additonal po...ung side panel sa loob ng pregio madaling umangat or lumobo.

based lang po ito sa experienced ko...i love my PREGIO but kailangan nang bitawan talaga.

would like to revive this thread...
I'm a new Pregio owner, I just bought a 2000 Pregio GS matic. I just replaced the roof mouldings, window run channels, valve cover gasket, change oil and even changed the battery. So far so good, or so I thought...
Last Sunday it suddenly stalled while it was still running. Tried to start it again but it turned out the the brand new battery was discharged! So I borrowed a battery from our neighborhood dealer and low and behold it started and the battery was charged by the alternator. The following day I had both the alternator and Battery checked, everything was A-ok.
Then just today, while having diesel loaded at the station it wouldn't start again. Battery is again discharged!
If both batt and alternator are working properly what else could be the problem???
Somebody HELP!!!

what i'm getting at is that maybe some part of your car's electricals could be shorted out somehow, thus the voltage leaks out even when the car isn't running. baka me nagdikit na wires somewhere in your van.

my uncle used to have a similar problem, i.e. nakasindi palagi ung taillights niya kahit nakaoff ang engine.

Pasingit... naalala ko kasi nung ginagawa ng Dad ko yung pregio namin ginamitan niya ng multi tester para malaman kung may discharge ang battery kahit naka switch off. He just check the positive wire to the ground wire kung may continuity (note: nakatanggal sa battery ang wire) lately he found out kaya madalas magdischarge ang battery kahit okay naman ang alternator may power lost daw madalas sa starter motor kahit hindi ginagawa. grounded ata ang rotor kahit naka off ang engine nagcoconsume pa din ng power. I may be wrong kasi naalala ko lang ito. matanong kasi ako sa Dad ko if ever may ginagawa siya hehehe

last oil change ko was at Rapide lang. first time ko to own a diesel so i really don't know how to tell if the oil i'm using is any good.
why would you guys say that one brand of oil is better than the other (Petron better than Shell)? what's the basis for determining a good brand of engine oil for diesel-fed motors?

sakin oil ng pregio ko ay Rev x din, okey sya compare sa other brands, 3.0 okey sa hatak hindi kapos mabilis hindi din naman matakaw sa diesel at ang pinaka gusto ay ang aircon nito super lamig...ito nga ang ginawa kong reference ng mag pa upgarde ako ng aircon ng FX ko doon sa Ceejay sa may las pinas, sabi ng mechanic unfair daw ang comparison ko kasi dual condenser daw yon kaya super lamig....kaya nag padagdag din ng condeser ang fx ko kaya lamig na din...problema ko lang sa pregio ko ay power window hirap tumaas mabagal at ang mga plastic nito madali mabasag.....

kawawa lang talaga ang nasa second row kaya yung dito samen laging sa thirrd and fourth row umuupo hehheee
