good news yan. i never changed fuel since 21 mos ago. higher octane may cause knocking. hintayin mo rin mawala yung check engine before starting para walang misfire. shell unleaded gamit ko.

Pano kaya un di ka na pde mag higher octane kahit 95RON or 97RON para kahit papano lumakas ung hatak na try mo na bang mag taas ng octane or is it okay to use octane boost like STP/Cyclo for 91RON Shell FS???

never tried using higher octane or additives. was advised against it. never changed brands either except during fc test. from the start, malakas hatak talaga.

Meron na bang nakasubok o kasalukuyang gumagamit ng Unioil (Euro 4) gasoline para sa kanilang 1.4L Kia Rio Hatchback? Kung meron, anu ang experience nyo sa Euro 4?

have been lurker in this thread for quite some time, i like rio's interior fell in love with it, like how comfy it is, compared to the new vios,
however, after reading all your posts about how bad the fc is I am thinking to switch to 1.2 slx variant instead, or go back to vios na ok ang FC

better stick to vios. rio guys are not mainstream.

Unfortunately, the Rio being sold here in the Philippines is the OLD model. Here the engine gears are only 4AT and 5MT whereas the new models are 6-speed for both manual and A/T!!! The body for local and other regions are the same. Daya ng Columbian.

that's strange. my ex mt is 6 speed tranmission. and the engine is the gamma type with timing chain. it replaced the kappa engine. strange info indeed.

I can answer this pero hindi ako Kia rep. My Rio HB is nearing 20,000 km. already.
Sa Asean Region, Kia exports the Rio HB with the 1.4 engine mated to the 4-speed AT tranny.
Sa US, Kia decided to bring the Rio HB with the 1.6 engine mated to the 6-speed AT.
So its Kia HQ decision not Columbia.

Funny thing with the 2-weeks na wala masyadong traffic due to the holidays, my HB posted 8.5 km/liter during the last week of 2013 and 8 km/liter on the 1st week of Jan. 2014.

This week which is Jan 2nd week 2014, mejo ma-traffic na and balik na sya ulit to 7 km/liter.

So does it mean that Eastwood to BGC to Makati to Manila and vice versa traffic is really bad? I guess it is!

Too bad that when compared to its competitors on the same route, it seems Vios/Jazz gets 9km/liter.

Hindi talaga para sa lahat ang Kia Rio HB. But I am glad na hindi para konti lang kami ang nasa daan. Haha

sa route ko na paranque to sta cruz manila and vice versa, consistent ako sa 8.5km/l. pag nag 9 ako, suwerte na sobra hahaha! 10k palang nga rio ko eh tas 1 and half yr old

kia specs nga nakalagay. cannot help but feel it is an old list. hydraulic pa power steering. and my ex/mt's spec are not there at all. sorry.

update: my ex/mt surprised me the last 2 weeks. in davao, speed limit is just 30kph and is implemented. driving my 1600cc glxi lancer at that speed will require up to 3rd gear only and not more. tried it at fourth and the transmission will shudder. the rio can take that speed at 6th gear at 1000rpm only without effort. this is when i appreciated the 109 horsepower and torque. will find out soon if my fc will improve though.

First-time ko magpost dito pero matagal na akong lurker sa thread na ito. Gusto ko lang sana i-share sa inyo ang bago kong ride. Alam ko maraming negative feedback regarding sa fc ng rio5 pero kahit ganoon pa man, rio5 pa rin ang kinuha naming mag-asawa dahil nagustuhan namin ang itsura nito at "cute" daw sabi ni misis.

Kakakuha lang namin sa kanya kagabi, si "cherry":

maganda naman talaga yung kia rio interior ang exterior........fc lang problema nasa 6km/l sa city maluwag walang traffic , highway nasa 9km/l .........kia rio sx sedan po sakin...

work , school , house lang walang joy ride..... 500 pesos 45km lang ac 20 , pag ac 25 nasa 50km yung 500 pesos ko........
