i have a few questions about the new sportage, i hope current owners can chime in....
1. how is the FWD, does it slip going uphill on parking ramps when the tires are wet?
2. is it true that both AWD and FWD 2.0L ex variants are underpowered and are sluggish going uphill?
3. is the interior rattle free? How is Noise, Harshness, Vibration?
4. is the transmission responsive during aggressive driving? or is it slow like a CVT? does it downshift quickly? is it smooth?
5. any electronic bugs with your car?
6. how does the interior wear over time? seat upholstery? plastics? dash? etc.....
7. after a few months, any complaints with the car? anything the kia engineers should have thought of?
1. No, aactivate ang ESC/VDC yan to prevent tire slipping.
2. Not in the position to answer, diesel kasi sa akin kaya sobra sobra sa power
3. No. Pero acceptable consider the price.
4. Absolutely YES, lalo na pag imanual sport mode +/-
5. Korean speakingKDM unit kasi
6. Still too early to tell.
7. Auto Drive? Auto brake?![]()
Just chiming in:-) I have btw, a local EX(gas) FWD version.
1. One time, I did experienced some slippage going uphill in a slippery concrete road, but i think you just need to proceed more carefully rather than apply more throttle, which I did and caused the slippage. I think this is true for most FWD vehicles though.
2. It does not feel more underpowered as other 2.0L gas CUVs out there. I do wish that I have the diesel variant like wahzai's for more torque/power, but the gas variant is adequate for most driving conditions. Reaching 190kph at the SCTEX is not a problem. For uphill driving, using the manual mode of the sportmatic tranny really helps a lotIt also handles great.
3. So far no rattles. Noise, Harshness and Vibration is not an issue for me, compared to other vehicles within the same price range. Of course it is no Lexus. Suspension when it was new, was on the firm side, but after adjusting the tire pressures, the ride became more comfortable. Brake noise could be rather loud though, depending on how you control the brakes.
4. Transmission is silky smooth. The fully automatic mode is geared for better fuel economy rather than sporty driving. For more aggressive driving, use the manual mode.
5. Aside from the software bugs of my OEM like head unit (China), I did experienced some inaccurate AVERAGE FC readings on the trip computer right after I fill up the gas tank. I just reset it every time I fill it up with fuel.
6. Interior feels like it will last many years, although mostly hard plastic, fit and finish is high. Just don't scratch the front horizontal dashboard panel.
7. Except for some minor complaints on the brake noise/brake dust issue and some visibility issues, no major complaints. Great car so far. Kia engineers have thought of mostly everything, except that they are only available in the DLX version, he, he. For the price it is being offered, only the Tucson is the close alternative. My only other choice was the 2.0XS forester, which admittedly is a better handling vehicle.
Cheers!
So far rattle free. NVH is fine. Wala ako problema.
Yup.
Hmm. Bigger rear window sana.
In my case baliktad. Better yung FC ko when I use the sportronic mode.
Pretty much same comments as above. Engine is more than adequate for me on flats, though of course when you floor it medyo lalaban yung steering siguro. When i took it up to Baguio, you do need help from the Sportronic mode to overtake while going up.
Overall my wife and I are pretty happy with it. No shift shock, suspension is quite comfy, though fairly stable on those tight turns. In fact, she even felt it was slower than our old Everest ... ayun kaskasero tuloy
Yung visibility lang nga ang medyo what will take getting used to. The front and rear pillars do take up quite some space. yung rear ok lang kasi may sensor naman and the side mirrors are more than enough, pero yung sa front medyo kaialangan maingat ka especialy pag paliko. Very easy to miss a pedestrian ... mataas din ang beltline so medyo kailang as di mo kita yung gilid.
though i kinda like the feel though of these narrower windows. mas car ang feel ba, and parang 'protected' ka insideI kinda feel exposed na nga when riding another SUV.
ayun no complaints so far. the design is great, the overall handling is good, the stock sound system is also really nice, saksakan lang ng USB ok ka na.
thanks for the feedbacks ppl!
im leaning towards the AWD EX variant over the FWD, perhaps it can climb steep ramps better than a FWD. ived driven a CVT Xtrail FWD and it did slip with wet tires on a steep ramp. my HRV and RAV4 AWD before didnt have a problem climbing.
just wondering, why do you need to shift to manual mode when overtaking? the xtrail cvt i drove was sluggish during hard acceleration though.
so does the new sportage drive like a rav4???? i want a sporty mini suv for city errands.
will it fit a mountain bike in the trunk? it seemed to have a high rear floor.
I don't have to.
now to the bottomline of all my questions........
how much cash discount did you get?
