    Favor again hi-lander gurus:

My hi-lander logged 167,000+ kms. already. I think am the third owner already. Every time I step hard on the gas, I notice some bluish white smoke from my tail pipe. Kung medyo natagalan ka sa idling speed, then birit ka for quick acceleration, I notice quite a volume of bluish white emission.

Mga sirs, what does this mean? Blow-out diaphragm ba? Do I need to take down the engine for overhaul? I recently had my emission test, okay naman. I noticed also, after around 600 kms run, I have to add around half a liter ofengine oil to maintain the ideal oil level.

Medyo dyahe mag drive if your emitting such a kind of smoke. (Although sometimes that smoke serves as retardant for mga makukulit na underbone riders,

Thank you bros for your replies.

Pareho tyo ng engine, mine also consumes half a litre of oil around the same travel length. But get this, since 2003 pa ganyan hi-lander ko. Sabi ng kumapre kong mekaniko, as long as it pulls & performs ok why bother having it overhauled? Gagastos ka ng 50K sa pag baba nyan, samantalang how much lang ba ang liter of oil na ordinary? 150-180 lang di ba? factor in how many kms do you travel in a year, and the length of time to recover that cost...

In some countries diesels are called oil burners, because it burns oil. I do admit that not all diesel engines do that, but its not uncommon...

Zero leak sya even ang engine bay. Yes, may slight streak of smoke pag tinanggal mo deep stick while engine is running. I'll try opening the cap someday. Thanks for the reply bro.

Thanks blue_gambit for the reply. Wow 50k pesos for overhaul!! I like your tip. I just have to take care of adding oil once in a while. Yes, it does perform well still and can pull hard. Siguro, I will clean the exhaust system for the meantime and change oil regularly. Thanks bro.

Thanks you digitel for the reply. Ok I'll remember your advice on being lenient and patient in depressing the gas pedal. (Im beginning to master it already, pero minsan nakakalimutan. Matagal kasi ako nasanay sa petrol engines with 2.0 cc displacements. Old habits die Hard, bro.)

I envy those hi-landers that I see in our roads sometimes. Ang linis ng tail pipe. Halos walang usok. Sana I could catch up with them some of these days and chat as to how they maintain their rides.

Still bearable compared to jeeps and mini trucks I use to meet on the road everyday. Even my mechanic advised me na ok pa naman sya. I visited a local Isuzu dealer in our place and the chief mechanic told me na normal lang daw ang usok ng hilander ko considering its mileage.

Thanks again CMs for the reply. Yes, this Saturday pakakabitan ko ng nipple yung exhaust pipe para pasukan ng liquid detergent as I've seen in previous posts in this thread. How do you do that? While the engine is running on controlled rev continuous din ang water hose flushing the supposed carbon deposit? How often do you purge your exhaust system? Once a month? Thanks

Thanks fabilioh for your reply. Ok ha! Joy pala, tried and tested mo na. Saan ba nakakakuha ng Joy? (Quezon Av marami ba?

(just my opinion).

Oo nga daw takaw huli sa MMDA ang isuzu natin on smoke belching. Dito naman sa province di gaano. Mga PUJ and target ng LTO at DENR.

BTW, ganda ng ride mo sir. XTRM ba?

    Salamat uli bro.

    Good day!

I own an SLX then suddenly my tachometer went dead. Could anyone help me where to trace the fault?

I have no idea how the tachometer in a diesel engine works, moreover I have no idea how where to look in a 4ja1 engine.

    Thanks
