June 16th, 2016 12:02 AM #2362tumawag nga ako sir sa central diesel sabi nila wag muna ako bumili ng mga piyesa, pakinggan daw muna nila yung tunog na sinasabi ko. duda daw kasi sila dahil wala pa daw silang na-seservican na dmax na model 2010 and up na nasiraan ng timing chain, tensioner or timing chain guide. kaso sunday lang ako free, saradao naman sila. wala kasi akong kilala na magaling na diesel engine mechanic since gas engine ibang sasakyan namin.

June 16th, 2016 08:31 PM #2364*subidochris: Sir, if you backread, I've posted that my Dmax had experienced a rattling, whinning and buzzing sound before. Im not sure if it's the same "kalansing" that you are hearing in your unit.
Mine is a 2008 model and yours is 2010 but I believe they belong to the same generation. While our Dmax uses a timing gear/chain, the downside of it is once the tensioner gets loose, it produces that annoying rattling, buzzing, swishing, whinning sound.
The very first time I've heard it, I thought it was normal until it became irritatingly louder and I could feel its effect in the performance.
The first time I brought it to the dealership, their initial hunch was the turbo. After further observance, they thought it was the water pump. They replaced the water pump and just after a few hundred kms, the sound recured. Until they found out that the sound was caused by a loose tensioner. They replaced the whole assembly including the timing chain. I even said that they are boasting that the timing chain is better than the belt yet I've replaced mine at around 80k kms as well, no difference from the belt.
After around 20k+ kms or so, the sound recured. All the mechanic did was, he claimed, he tightened, cleaned the tensioner and all was well again. However, the sound kept recurring every 3k to 4k kms and I told him that there should be a fix for that.
Just this yr, not sure on how many months exactly as the record isn't with me, currently out of town, Im not sure what they did but I haven't heard that since.
So if you are hearing the same sound that I've heard before, most probably that it's the tensioner causing it.
If there is any consolotation, all those times that I've heard that sound and my tensioner getting loose and all, my Dmax never failed me. It never stalled.
You can backread and see my posts from before so you can check if that is the same sound.

June 16th, 2016 10:15 PM #2365hi sir, mine is a 2012 model.. i did read your post about that sir.. and it's actually from your post that i got the idea of asking the mechanic to tighten the tensioner, which he did but could not make the sound go away. he just said that the tensioner needs replacement asap. they even included in my service billing a note saying "safety hazard/critical: need to replace tensioner, need to replace timing chain & guide." i do not notice any power loss though.

June 16th, 2016 11:06 PM #2366Maybe yours is due to loose tensioner too.
Try bringing it to Isuzu Commonwealth and look for Ian or Henry. Tell them that your Dmax is producing that sort of rattling, buzzing, whinning sound and you think it's due to the tensioner.
If you don't get it fixed, soon you'll feel a bit of power loss. Not the same as having a faulty SCV or EGR but you feel that it's kinda restricted.
Maybe I was just lucky but as I've said, mine never stalled. I tried to drive it hard and fast and even brought it out of town, it kept going. But that sound was there and very, very annoying.
Not sure exactly what the mechanic did each time I brought it there. All he was telling me was he cleaned and tightened it. Then the very last fix, they never replaced any part and I've never heard it since. So I've no clue what they did.
Try to bring it to Isuzu Comm, sir. With my case, for sure they have an idea on how to fix it.Last edited by rna800; June 16th, 2016 at 11:08 PM.
