Tanong ko lang po...aesthetic lang ba pinagbago sa Limited Bondook Edition? Maganda kasi external look. Just saw a black one with a silvery two-tone siding and chromed grills. Wow!!!

July 31st, 2008 06:06 PM #3913Guys,
I am so happy to tell you that I finally drove my Dmax today. At last, I could proudly say that I am Dmax owner. I brought it straight to Carryboy from the showroom to put tail light chrome cover, stepboard, roller lid and spray on bedliner. I will post pictures as soon as I get the truck. They told me that it will be available tomorrow afternoon.
However, I noticed that there is a slight vibration with sound in the steering wheel. I asked my agent and he told me that if that problem persists, just bring it back to him. Overall, the truck is two thumbs up! It's totally a head turner. I will give you my reviews after the first PMS since I will bring it to our province for break in.
Can I get your opinion? Do you think I got a good deal?
P40,000 - Discount (it was supposed to be 35k, but the agent added 5k more)
Free: Matting, tint seatcover, automobilekote undercoat (5k value in other dealers and not the already pre-installed undercoat) and rain gutter

July 31st, 2008 06:17 PM #3914Maybe, I am not sure sir, since I haven't seen one. I really wanted to see that limited edition and I have been to three different showrooms but I found no luck.
Regardless if it's limited edition or not, the new Dmax is really beautiful inside and out and all sides. People couldn't really help but to look at it when you pass.

I have the 2005 model LX A/T. Just thought I'd post the annoying things I've experienced from nearly 3 years of ownership that no one seems to be talking about.
1. The rear bumper had to be replaced because it already had rust on it before we even brought the truck home. The people from the dealership were slow to react, pointed fingers at each other and made me wonder if they were going to replace it at all.
2. Original paint is about as thick as a sheet of tracing paper. Found this out after a kid decided to use a peso coin to scratch the driver side panel. The metal got exposed right away. Ang nipis. I've seen a lot of washover paints that are way thicker than the original paint. You can barely see the primer, if it has any. If anyone tells me all cars are made this way I dare them to scratch all my other cars.
3. All the panels are made from steel so thin that the side panels get dinged from other door panels that hit it in tight parking spaces. Add to that any minor contact with even not-so-hard object (plastic & rubber) is enough to ding any side panels. Again, I dare anyone to try getting dings/dents on my other cars by applying the same minimal force that would dent the Dmax.
4. The inner wall of the tailgate is equally as thin as the side panels. Dents are already visible despite due diligence in trying to "baby" the cargo bed when loading. The 2mm rhino lining i had sprayed on didn't seem to help.
5. The entire cargo bed has already deformed, when you look at it from behind, the front and rear border aren't parallel anymore. Again, all this despite moderate loading conditions at worst, and babying the truck over potholes.
6. Isuzu service sucks. I nearly blow my top once for every two visits for PMS. They once failed to replace 3 of the 4 the engine cover bolts. I had to pull over to fasten them myself after wondering what the rattling under the hood was. They "accidentally" disconnected the horn once. I had to go to the dealership 4 times to finally get the rear bumper replaced right (see number 1).
The Dmax isn't without its good points though. Relatively cheap(er) PMS, fuel economy and the raucuous engine note may very well be the best selling point made to the buying public. I just hope people are better informed of what they are getting when they drop by the dealership.

^^^Dang sir, those are certainly unacceptable things. Sorry to know that you got a lemon truck
Those problems are truly crap especially about the cargo bed. Can you state which particular dealer you got the unit from and what dealers have you had your regular PMS done? So that we can be warned which to avoid.
Maybe LX owners here can also share their side on problems like the ones mentioned.

August 1st, 2008 05:39 PM #3920My dmax is still doing well naman. Only thing I hate is the dyed steering wheel. kupas na. anyone know where I can get one? I also need a headlight switch stalk cause yung foglamp switch ko died on me.
I'm using a manual switch now. hindi ko naman pwede i iwan lang naka on kasi hid din gamit kong fogs.
Theres also this odd rattle in the steering column. Oh well. I'm looking to buy off roading parts soon. I dont think I will go with the porma look na hahaha
but toyota outfits their cars with locally manufactured yokohamas. i just follow suit. after many...
