Inquiry regarding isuzu crosswind engine

I am planning to buy an auv pampasada....so as usual,eto mga choices
ko...2nd hand revo diesel, isuzu crosswind(brand new). Medyo parang
inclined ako to choose the isuzu crosswind dahil mas established na sila
sa diesel engine..kaso may mga nababasa akong thread indicating na
madaling magkaron ng problem sa makina nila...yung mga tipong sandali
lang ay smoke belcher na agad ang sasakyan...
ang inquiry ko is....nag-improve na kaya yung mga current generation
crosswind?any first hand info will be a big help....thanks in advance

Smoke belching is not a mechanical problem, it's a design problem. Crosswind engines are a relatively crude OHV - Timing Gear engine designed for durability rather than refinement. My "smoke belching" Crosswind XUV has passed 140,000 kilometers in just three years. No problems whatsoever with the engine. It still starts on the first click, and runs flawlessly... despite being unutterably slow...

With proper maintenance and regular cleaning (of the exhaust), you can minimize it. The current generation is supposed to be Euro II compliant, which means that it has particulate filters that will help minimize (if not eliminate) the Crosswind's famously dirty exhaust.

thanks for the reply....since for business naman yung purpose ko, parang mas bagay nga sa akin ang crosswind since durability ang mas mahalaga kesa sa speed....

Yeah... for personal use, there are better cars out there, but for business, the Crosswind is a relatively painless vehicle. ;)

how do u clean the exhaust sir? we have an 06 sportivo and mejo mausok nga lalo na sa morning, d pa nman maitim ung usok, mejo color blue pa

^^^ Grayish exhaust during cold starts is pretty normal sa crosswind, mawawala rin after mag-init. Water flushing lang sa exhaust at least once or every 2 months will do. Punuin mo thru the tail pipe, high rev it til lumabas lahat then repeat it 3-4 times. After that ramdam mo pino acceleration at transparent ang exhaust…. Once pina opacity test mo – 0.48 pa

Is the 2006 the one that's already supposed to be Euro II compliant? If so, better check with a good mechanic whether pouring water into the exhaust will harm the particulate filter, first.

i'm not sure if the 06 model is already Euro II compliant, we bought the unit 2nd hand with only 9K in its odometer. Have to check the manual first hehe

Yup, grayish/bluish smoke sa morning pagka start, but after mag normal operating temp, d na visible.

mga sir.. i bought a isuzu crosswind xt 2009 model.. tanong ko lang po gano kataas po ba dapat ang rpm ng engine, para magamit po yung turbo? because when we were driving it parang di ko ramdam ang hatak ng turbo nya. Di gaya ng 2004 nissan xtrail sport x na ramdam mo agad ang hatak ng turbo nya at 1500 rpm.

Mas mausok po yung older versions of 4jA1 as for my observation, our 98 hi lander with just around 140K Kms in the odo is belching more smoke compared to our 2001 ipv with 299K Kms in the odo. Pero sa una lang po mausok eh, pag tapos ng long run hindi na po mausok.

Regular maintenance lang po at hindi naman sobrang smoke belching yung amin, slight lang, siguro ganun din sa iba
